Jamestown (CSi) University of Jamestown men’s hockey coach Dean Stork announces the signing of Nicholas Kovacik of Kelowna, British Columbia, who will join the Jimmies in the 2016-17 season.
Kovacik is a 5′ 10″, 185 pound forward currently playing for the Creston Valley Thunder Cats of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League. In 45 games this season, Kovacik has 7 goals and 12 assists with 44 penalty minutes.
“Nicholas is one of the smartest and hardest-working centers I have seen from the KIJHL,” said Stork. ”The character shines extremely bright in this individual. He is a natural born leader both on the ice and off the ice. He is an excellent penalty killer and possesses a relentless attitude towards blocking shots and paying the price for his teammates to win a hockey game. I believe Nicholas has not even tapped into his offensive abilities yet and that’s what I will do to help him in his development with UJ hockey.”
