gunrangeoutdoorJamestown  (CSi) At Monday  evening’s meeting of United Sportsmen of North Dakota Jamestown Chapter,  area residents joined in  to discuss  finding a location for a gun range.

Curt Kaseman said  the group has hired an attorney and public accountant, and signed an article of incorporation to make the “Jamestown Marksmanship Education Range,” a non-profit organization and allow  the group to hold fundraisers.

The group will start looking at  grants and ways to begin raising funds once they are an approved corporation.

Kaseman stated that the cost of the project will depend on  community involvement, similar the newly constructed Bismarck Rifle Range.

The group is still seeking potential property on which to build the new range.  Officials are looking for  land consisting of  around 25 to 40 acres within 10 miles of Jamestown.

Also in the plans is a well established road to the property, a high natural back stop, the ability to have power and water, and no structures down range from the firing line.

Kaseman has been asking several land owners within a 6-mile radius if they would be willing to give land to the project.

Anyone with  questions or wishing to donate land can contact the United Sportsmen of North Dakota Jamestown Chapter.
