Farmers Union naming rights Metro Sports

Fargo, ND  (CSi)  – Metro Sports Foundation announced Wednesday a naming rights partnership for the new expansion rink with Farmers Union Insurance. Effective immediately, Farmers Union Insurance Center will be used to describe the 35,000 square foot addition which includes an ice rink with stadium seating for just under 600, locker room space, and an additional event space. The staff looks to host a variety of events in the multi-purpose space including weddings, corporate events, and hockey tournaments.

The Metro Sports Foundation staff has been working to secure a naming rights sponsor for the expansion rink since the announcement of the project in August 2015 and is pleased to have
Farmers Union Insurance be that partner.

“We are pleased to announce the naming rights partner as Farmers Union Insurance,” said Scheels Arena President Jon Kram. “They fit all of the criteria we set out when looking to find a naming rights partner. Their business model of commitment to customer service and dedication to youth sports programs falls right in line with our business model.”

Scheels Arena and the Fargo Force established a partnership with Farmers Union Insurance in 2008 and look to continue to strengthen that relationship through the new naming rights partnership.

“Building stronger communities is a part of Farmers Union Insurance’s mission statement,” said State Sales and Marketing Manager Kevin Ressler. “Committing to this project helps fulfill that mission while having a positive impact on Fargo and the surrounding areas.”

Farmers Union Insurance Center signage will be placed within the building over the next couple of months. A grand opening at the Center is being planned for the beginning of May with the date and time being announced soon.

About the Metro Sports Foundation:
Established in 2007, the Metro Sports Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization was derived from a community need – an insufficiency in ice availability and capacity for the Fargo hockey and ice skating constituency, including the four Fargo youth hockey clubs, the Fargo Park District and the Fargo public and private schools. The beginning of the foundation’s community service to fulfill that need was realized in 2008 with the opening of Phase I of Scheels Arena in the form of a 5,000 seat hockey arena. Today, the organization continues to work towards serving the youth sporting community through its mission of enriching youth activities in the Fargo-Moorhead area through the promotion and hosting of sporting events that offer players, coaches and the community the opportunity to participate at the highest level of sportsmanship.
