Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Water Department reports that the water was back on, early Friday afternoon, in Southeast Jamestown following the repair of a broken water main.
A spokesman said the cast iron pipe crack was repaired with a stainless steel clamp, and the excavation was filled and brought up to grade.
The 75 or so customers in the area were advised that the water service would be shut off starting at 11-a.m., Friday, and crews finished the repair at 1-p.m.
The area affected was south of 15th St SE from 7th Ave SE to Elmwood Place, including 15th St SE between 6th Ave SE & 8th Ave SE and areas to the south.
Update…
Jamestown (Csi) The North Dakota Highway Patrol has officially identified the individuals involved in the accident, Wednesday afternoon about 2:45, that claimed the life of a Jamestown man.
The report says a motorcycle operated by 58 year old Daniel Zimney of Jamestown was rear-ended north of Jamestown, on U.S. Highway 52, at mile marker 260.5.
The report says a 2006 Chevrolet Suburban driven by 38 year old Glen Nystrom of New Rockford and the 2008 Harley Davidson were both in the right southbound lane on the highway. The Suburban approached the slower motorcycle from the rear and rear-ended the Harley.
The collision caused the Harley to roll, and Zimney was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
Nystrom was not injured. The reports says he was wearing a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation.

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP-CSi) – Valley City Mayor Bob Werkhoven has resigned.
The 85-year-old Werkhoven said in a radio interview Thursday morning that recent health issues prompted him to step down from the office he’s held since 2010.
Four city employees earlier this year filed a grievance against Werkhoven for allegedly creating a hostile work environment. He denied the allegations by City Administrator David Schelkoph, Police Chief Fred Thompson, Police Lt. David Swenson and City Attorney Russ Myhre.
Those individuals are represented by Jamestown Attorney, Joe Larson who said his clients wish Werkhoven well in the future.
Larson says he and his clients will decide what direction the grievances may take, if any, in the future.
Werkhoven says the dispute had nothing to do with his decision to resign Thursday.
Werkhoven has served Valley City for 14 years, and was elected in 2010.
He won a recall election in January 2012, picking up 1,124 votes or 56 percent of votes cast.

Stemming from security camera video released by authorities, he was identified.

Items were reportedly stolen from several locations including Bald Hill Dam Resort, East Crossing, Campground Host. Items included those taken out of a shed and boat on a trailer near East Crossing lake homes, a maintenance shop in Bjornson Park, items from the U-S Fish Hatchery office.

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Regional Airport Authority approved the purchase of two used passenger-boarding bridges providing shelter from the elements for passengers going to and from the terminal.
At yesterday’s meeting, Jamestown Airport Authority Chairman Jim Boyd said this item has been “a pet project” of his for a long time. He said the passenger-boarding bridges will be good for all passengers, but especially those with limited mobility issues.
Jamestown Regional Airport Manager Sam Seafeldt, added that Jamestown Regional Airport submitted a successful bid of $32,000 in April for the bridges from Minot International Airport.
The airport authority also approved seeking 50 percent funding from the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission to help with the cost of the two bridges.
Seafeldt said the passenger-boarding bridges will be in Jamestown before the end of this month. The airport will only use one of the bridges and it won’t be in service until early fall. The second one may ultimately be sold or used for parts when needed to support the first one.
The Airport Authority also approved Schumacher Construction in Jamestown to start foundation work with a cost of $8,000 to prepare the area at the rotunda, the area where the passenger-boarding bridge will be anchored just outside the airport terminal building.
Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown’s Frontier Village will become a host site for items belonging to former NASA astronaut, and Jamestown native Richard Hieb.
Hieb flew aboard three NASA space shuttle flights in the 1990s.
FVA secretary-treasurer, Tina Busche said at yesterday’s Frontier Village BOard meeting she received confirmation prior to the meeting, adding Hieb will be in Jamestown in July to discuss the matter with the board.
The FVA Board unanimously approved the plan. Board member Jay Diemert was not present.
The board approved a revised tack shed near the pony rides. Karen George, who runs the stagecoach and pony rides, said she would purchase the existing tack shack for $500 to help the village build a new one, Busche said.
The new tack shack will need to be around 10-by-16 feet, which is smaller than originally planned because of available space, Busche said. The Wild West Players donated $912 for the project, and the board agreed to fund the remainder of the structure.
Tom Mueller, owner of Dakota Belt & Moccasin, informed the FVA Board that the repairs he directed to the Village Trader building that he leases in the summer is complete. Mueller paid $10,000 to the FVA to replace deck boards and build a replacement wood foundation in exchange for a two-year lease.
In other business the board approved Dan Everson as a new board member. The addiction counselor from the North Dakota State Hospital said he has enjoyed taking his grandson to Frontier Village for years, and he decided he wanted to do more for the organization after he helped with a haunted house event.
HATTON, N.D. (AP) – Authorities have concluded their investigation into a January snowmobile crash in Grand Forks County that killed one boy and injured another, without finding answers to many questions.
The crash killed 10-year-old Mason Moen of Thompson and seriously injured 9-year-old Brody Johnson of Hatton.
The Highway Patrol concluded the snowmobile was traveling at least 50 mph when it crashed and rolled in a farm field near Hatton.
Authorities have been unable to determine which boy was driving or even if they were wearing helmets because of conflicting information and the surviving boy’s inability to remember.
County State’s Attorney David Jones reviewed the case for possible criminal charges, including neglect on the part of adults who were supervising the boys. He determined the case didn’t warrant charges.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Minot police are investigating the armed robbery of a convenience store by a suspect who might have held up several other businesses in the area.
Authorities say a male wearing a red scarf and wielding a knife entered a Cenex store shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday and took an undisclosed amount of money from the till.
The description of the suspect matches that of the suspect in robberies earlier this month at a Minot motel, hotel and convenience store, and a store in nearby Surrey.
No injuries have been reported in any of the robberies.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – An enrolled member of the Three Affiliated Tribes accused of child sexual abuse dating back to 2003 has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Wilbert Ladue Jr., of New Town, pleaded guilty in February to aggravated sexual abuse. Authorities say the cases involved two girls who were younger than 12.
A federal public defender said Ladue has been a valued worker for the city of New Town for many years. The defense asked for a sentence of 15 years.
U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland ordered that Ladue not be allowed to reside in a home or be in the company of anyone who has children under the age of 18, or date or socialize with anyone who has children under 18, without the approval of the probation officers.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A group of food producers and other advocates of genetically modified food gathered in one of the smallest states in the country to speak out against product labeling requirements set to become law in an even smaller state.
Supporters of GMO foods told a friendly audience at an annual biotechnology conference in North Dakota Thursday that the Vermont law would unfairly stigmatize the products and is meant to get them off the market.
The law would impact companies that distribute nationally, including KLN Family Brands of Perham, Minnesota, located 70 miles east of Fargo. KLN products include Barrel O’Fun, Tuffy’s Pet Foods and Kenny’s Candy.
KLN president Charlie Nelson says the law could dramatically increase costs from field to fork. He calls it “a big deal throughout the supply chain.”
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The Bismarck-Mandan tourism group that operates the Lewis and Clark Riverboat on the Missouri River wants to give visitors more information about the area’s history and offerings.
The Fort Abraham Lincoln Foundation has raised $580,000 of the $1 million needed to build a community heritage and event center at the former Captain Meriwether’s riverbank restaurant site.
The foundation needs $750,000 to get started and is on target to begin construction by the end of the year.
Foundation Executive Director Aaron Barth says the center would have a cafe and a museum highlighting the steamboat’s role in the fur trade, the coming of the railroad and the immigrant homesteaders who settled the West. The center also would offer information on area attractions, hotels and restaurants.

The website for United Gun Group began hosting the auction Thursday after another website took down the auction.
