Update….
The Stutsman County Relay for Life Co-Event Chairs, Chelsey Francis and Amanda Thrift on the Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, said this year goal is to raise $100,000. So far, fundraisers throughout the year have brought in $67,000, so at least $33,000 is needed to reach this year’s goal.
Last year’s goal of $90,000 was reached, so this year another roughly $27,000 would match last year’s total.
A silent auction will be from 2-p.m., to 8-p.m.
They pointed out that on Friday, Jun 10th, volunteers are needed starting at 8-a.m., at UJ’s Taylor Stadium to help with set up of tents, and tables, along with placing luminaries around the track.
Help is also needed in assisting with parking in the stadium lot, and to keep the track and stadium picked up during and after the Relay.
Luminaries are available for purchase through Thursday, at a suggested donation of $10, at Wells Fargo Bank in Downtown Jamestown or from Judy Hager.

Other reminders….
Jamestown (CSi) The Stutsman County Relay for Life is Friday June 10 at the University of Jamestown Taylor Stadium .
The Opening Ceremony brings everyone together for a high-energy event kickoff that celebrates the lives of those who have battled cancer and reminds us all that while we are winning this battle, fighting cancer is a year-round priority.
Cancer survivors take the first lap around the track. Cheered on by the other participants and the sound of upbeat music, the Survivors Lap lets all cancer survivors at the event celebrate their victory over cancer.
During the Caregivers Lap, anyone who ever cared for someone with cancer walks a special lap so they can be honored. Caregivers can walk this lap with the person they helped if they are also present.
At the candlelight Luminaria Ceremony we remember loved ones lost to cancer, support people who currently have cancer, and honor people who fought cancer in the past. It’s a powerful part of the event because it provides an opportunity for people to work through grief and find hope.
The Closing Ceremony celebrates what we all just accomplished together. It’s also a time to remember the lives of those lost, and to commit to continuing the fight against this disease over the next year.

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) – The Highway Patrol has identified a New Salem man who died in a crash involving two pickup trucks in Morton County.
Authorities say 83-year-old Robert Slavick was driving a pickup truck that was struck by another pickup on Old Highway 10 west of Mandan on Tuesday afternoon.
Slavick’s pickup was pushed into a ravine, and he died at the scene.
The 35-year-old Mandan man driving the other pickup suffered unspecified injuries. The patrol says charges are pending against him.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Charges are pending against two adults in Bismarck after a young boy was found wandering alone.
Authorities say the boy about 4 years old was found near a fast food restaurant late Wednesday morning. It took police and Burleigh County Social Services officials more than five hours to locate his guardians.
Police arrested a 22-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man.
DILWORTH, Minn. (AP) – A North Dakota sheriff is facing a misdemeanor charge for his role in an altercation at a bar in Minnesota.
Sargent County Sheriff Travis Paeper is charged in Clay County, Minnesota, with disorderly conduct for the May 14 incident at the Red Hen Taphouse in Dilworth.
Paeper says the charge was a surprise.
Court documents say Paeper was sitting at a table with three women who asked him to leave after he said something they didn’t like. One woman said Paeper was “grabby.” Paeper told police that a woman hit him in the face five times for no reason.
Police say Paeper was uncooperative and criticized a Dilworth officer for not “backing a brother in blue.”
Fifty-year-old Karen Beyer, of Moorhead, is also charged with disorderly conduct.
STANLEY, N.D. (AP) – The state’s attorney in Mountrail County has been suspended from practicing law for 30 days.
The North Dakota Supreme Court ordered the suspension Monday, saying Wade Enget violated rules of professional conduct in the representation of a private practice client.
Enget will be on probation for six months following his suspension and also was ordered to pay more than $7,100 to cover the costs of the disciplinary proceeding.
Enget did not immediately respond to an Associated Press request for comment Wednesday.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota attorney general’s office is suing a Bismarck contractor for violations of the state’s consumer fraud law.
Authorities say Steven Kapfer’s company, Rebuilding Dreams, failed to complete contracting work for which he was paid. He allegedly received $18,000 in advance payments from 10 homeowners who hired him between July 2013 and May 2015 to complete small home repair and remodeling projects.
The suit calls for Kapfer to pay back the money to the homeowners and pay costs of the investigation.
Kapfer did not return a phone message seeking comment.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Public Service Commission is hosting a conference of energy regulators from 14 states.
The three-day Mid-America Regulatory Conference begins Monday in Bismarck and brings together utility and energy regulatory agencies in states from the Dakotas to Texas.
North Dakota Public Service Commissioner Brian Kalk was elected president of the group last year. The annual conference typically is held in the home state where the group’s president resides.
The group was formed 60 years ago. Its conferences are aimed at discussing regulatory and policy issues affecting member states and the nation.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A Washington, D.C.-based venture capitalist touring the United States and Canada looking for good investments says many entrepreneurs in North Dakota are too polite.
Paul Singh is approaching the halfway mark of his 34-city trip in a customized travel trailer. He is hearing hundreds of sales pitches and in many cases writing big checks to startups. Before coming to North Dakota last week, he invested $100,000 in a Pittsburgh company.
Singh told a gathering of startup founders in Fargo that they need to drop the “dinner party etiquette” and find their swagger. He later said in an interview that Fargo entrepreneurs are as good as their peers in every other city, but are getting overlooked.
Singh will be spending the rest of the month in British Columbia and Montana.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A state district judge has upheld Williston’s July 1 deadline for oil field crew camps to shut down, though the legal battle isn’t over.
Target Logistics and Lodging Solutions sued the city in April, saying they’ve been treated unfairly. The two workforce housing companies asked Judge Paul Jacobson to issue an injunction against the deadline, but the judge on Wednesday sided with the city.
Jacobson said the companies’ claims of irreparable harm were “speculative and unsupported.”
Mayor Howard Klug says the ruling validates the city’s actions, though the dispute is continuing in a separate case in federal court that also involves Halliburton as a plaintiff. A hearing is set in that case Monday.
Target Logistics spokesman Randy Pruett says the fight isn’t over.

TWINS-GARDENHIRE
Twins’ Gardenhire says he would “love to manage again”
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Ron Gardenhire says he would “love to manage again” but that he’s not actively pursuing managerial jobs.
The former Twins manager was hired as a special assistant to Minnesota general manager Terry Ryan in April and said Wednesday he’s enjoying the role, which has him instructing and evaluating in the minor leagues.
However, Gardenhire says “if a team decides to make a move and they want to talk to me, I’d be glad to talk to them because I’d love to manage again.”
Gardenhire led Minnesota to six postseason appearances in 13 seasons and had a .507 winning percentage. He was replaced by Paul Molitor prior to the 2015 season.
BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) – ESPN is switching the network for the opener of soccer’s European Championship so it can provide live coverage of Muhammad Ali’s memorial service on its flagship channel.
The company said Wednesday that the Euro 2016 opener between host France and Romania on Friday will shift from ESPN CSi 14 to ESPN 2 CSi 18. Coverage of Ali’s memorial service from Louisville, Kentucky, will now air on ESPN. Broadcasts of both start at 1 p.m. Central time.
Former President Bill Clinton will deliver Ali’s eulogy at the KFC Yum! Center, which seats 15,000. Other speakers include family members, actor Billy Crystal, sportscaster Bryant Gumbel and representatives of multiple faiths. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan (REH’-jehp TY’-ihp UR’-doh-wahn) and King Abdullah the Second of Jordan plan to attend, and actor Will Smith and former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis are among eight pallbearers.
BELMONT STAKES…
NEW YORK (AP) – Preakness winner Exaggerator has been made the 9-5 favorite in a field of 13 for Saturday’s Belmont Stakes. The 3-year-old colt trained and ridden by the Desormeaux (deh-SOHR’-moh) brothers has drawn the No. 11 post position. Stradivari is the surprising second choice at 5-1.
TENNIS…
LONDON (AP) – Barring a successful appeal, you won’t see Maria Sharapova compete in another tennis tournament until January 2018.
The five-time major champion has been suspended from competition by the International Tennis Federation after testing positive for meldonium at the Australian Open. The ban is retroactive to her positive test following a quarterfinal loss to Serena Williams.
The ruling by an independent three-person panel appointed says Sharapova did not intend to cheat because she didn’t know meldonium was banned. But, she bears “sole responsibility” for the positive test. She was provisionally suspended by the ITF in early March, when she announced that she failed a doping test in January.
The five-time Grand Slam champion immediately said she will appeal to sport’s highest court.
In world and national news…
WASHINGTON (AP) – The House begins debate today on a bill that would restructure some of Puerto Rico’s $70 billion debt and create a financial control board. Republican and Democratic leaders support it, as does the Obama administration, but it faces opposition from both sides, as well. Some bondholders, unions and island officials have lobbied against the bill.
WASHINGTON (AP) – House Speaker Paul Ryan is unveiling his own plan today to overhaul immigration and secure U.S. borders. Ryan says it’s a plan that would keep out extremists, criminals and drug cartels. He proposes “high fencing,” but steers clear of a plan by presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to build a wall.
JERUSALEM (AP) – Israel is responding after last night’s shooting attack by two Palestinian men near an outdoor Tel Aviv market. Four Israelis were killed. The Israeli military says it has revoked most permits for Palestinians to visit Israel and travel abroad during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. And the military is also deploying two additional battalions in the West Bank.
MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) – Thirty Ethiopian troops have been killed in an attack on a base for African Union peacekeepers in central Somalia. A Somali official says a suicide bomber detonated the explosives in his vehicle early today at the gates of the Ethiopian military base before gunmen entered the base. The Islamic extremist group al-Shabab claims it killed 43 Ethiopian soldiers in the attack.
CRYSTAL SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) – The body of one of two men missing in a landslide at a gravel pit in southern Mississippi has been found. A spokesman for the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency says rescuers found the body early today inside a piece of equipment. Officials with the Mining Safety and Health Administration say the two men were operating heavy equipment at a pit in Crystal Springs last Friday when they were buried in 10 feet to 12 feet of mud and slush.
