Jamestown (CSi) Legal sales and detonation of fireworks in the City of Jamestown is allowed,

the first day of July through the fifth day of July, each year, according to the City Code. (And the twenty-sixth day of December through the first day of January.)

11:00 P.M. to 12:00 P.M. (noon) is prohibited within the City of Jamestown.

Exceptions are: Fireworks may be detonated on July 4th from 12:00 P.M. (noon) to 1:00 A.M. July 5 and on December 31 from 12:00 P.M.

The sale of fireworks shall be allowed only in areas zoned commercial or industrial.

No person shall offer any fireworks for sale unless such person is a resident of the city or living within the one-mile area under the city zoning control.

The Jamestown City Council may, by resolution, allow the sale or use of fireworks at any other time or date during the calendar year.

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Police Department is warning residents of a sex offender living in Jamestown.

Ronald Thompson is currently living at 517 4^th Street Northwest, Jamestown, ND

He presently has no vehicle.

He has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota Risk Level Committee of the Office of the North Dakota Attorney General.

Thompson is a 53 year old white male, five feet seven inches tall weighing 235 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.

The report says Thompson was convicted of Gross Sexual Imposition entering the home of a 42 year old Bismarck woman, he did not know.

She was assaulted with a knife, and suffering injuries stemming from physical force.

Thompson was convicted in October of 1995 in Burleigh County District Court.

Dispostion: 10 years, 3 years suspended, 125 days consecutive credit.

 

 

Jamestown (CSi) The next training exercise for area law enforcement and first responders, will be held Thursday, Jun 23, 2016 with a Tabletop Exercise from 9-a.m., to 3-p.m in the basement of the Law Enforcement Center in Jamestown.

The agencies review plans on how to respond in a emergency.

Participants will include Jamestown Area Ambulance, Jamestown Regional Medical Center and others.

Another tabletop exercise will be held by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be on July 28, 2016, concerning the Pipestem Dam.

A full-scale exercise is on August 8, 2016, at the Jamestown Regional Airport, with an as a yet to be decided on senario.

 

BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota Department of Human Services has scheduled a public information meeting on Thursday, June 30, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Central Time, to share information about changes in the department’s Traditional Home and Community-Based Services Waiver. The waiver serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing an array of home and community-based services in the least restrictive environment.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration says a man has died and three others were seriously injured in an oil well explosion in western North Dakota.

OSHA Area Director Eric Brooks says a 52-year-old Wyoming man died Sunday from injuries he suffered Saturday morning at a well site operated by XTO Energy Inc. near Watford City.

The man’s name was not immediately released pending notification of relatives.

Brooks says two other men, one from Wyoming and another from Colorado, suffered third-degree burns to 70 percent of their bodies. A fourth man, from Wyoming, suffered burns to his face.

XTO Energy is a subsidiary of ExxonMobil. A spokeswoman says the men were contractors working for companies that do maintenance on oil wells.

 

Fargo  (CSi)   The price of gas in North Dakota held steady at $2.27 a gallon last week and AAA says the statewide average may be near its peak for the year. While U.S. gasoline demand remains on track to set a new all-time high for the 2016 summer driving season, crude oil remains relatively less expensive than recent years, which is contributing to direct savings at the pump. Although North Dakota drivers are paying nine cents more than one month ago, the average pump price is down 44 cents per gallon versus this same date last year. The savings are likely to continue as supply appears more than capable of keeping pace with growing demand, according to AAA.

Pump prices generally peak during the summer months due to imbalances in supply and demand. Unlike many recent years, supply appears to be meeting the growing demand. The combination of factors has resulted in the lowest statewide average since 2005 which, barring and major disruptions in production or supply, should persist through the remainder of the year, says Gene LaDoucer, North Dakota spokesman for AAA-The Auto Club Group. Last year the North Dakota average hit a high of $2.76 on July 22. In 2014 the average hit a high of $3.67 on June 25.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota Democrats have selected the 18 delegates who will attend the party’s national convention next month in Philadelphia.

North Dakota Democratic Party Executive Director Robert Haider says more than 400 delegates attended the meeting Saturday in Bismarck.

The 18 delegates were chosen based on the June 7 caucus results, with Sen. Bernie Sanders getting 13 delegates and five allocated to Hillary Clinton. Each candidate was allocated one alternate.

A separate group of five superdelegates are not committed to a candidate. They are party officials and North Dakota Democrats who hold elective office.

Sen. Heidi Heitkamp is a superdelegate and has endorsed Clinton.

National committeeman Chad Nodland is supporting Sanders. The remaining three superdelegates have remained uncommitted.

 

MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Minot-area officials will ask the state for another $119 million in the next two-year budget period for work on a flood protection project.

Officials say completing the first four phases of the project will protect 60 percent of the city’s population from flooding. The cost is $250 million.

The the Legislature set aside $40 million for the project during the current budget period, under a cost-share agreement in which the state kicks in 60 percent. The city wants that increased to 75 percent in the next budget.

The June 2011 Souris River flood caused $700 million in damage in the city. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is studying permanent flood protection for the basin. That could cost $1 billion.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The Williston Basin Petroleum Conference will be held once again in Bismarck in 2018, despite interest from Fargo.

The annual conference brings together thousands of oil industry officials and experts to talk about technology, regulations and other issues. It alternates between sites in North Dakota and Canada, and was held in Bismarck this year.

The Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau had a booth at this year’s conference to promote the city and express interest in hosting the annual event.

North Dakota Petroleum Council Vice President Kari Cutting says conference attendees like Bismarck, and that “there are some perks to staying in the same place with our small staff.” She says Bismarck was an easy choice for 2018.

The 2017 conference will be in Regina, Saskatchewan.

 

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – A Powerball ticket sold in Sioux Falls is worth $100,000.

State lottery officials say the ticket matched four of five white ball numbers and the Powerball in Saturday’s drawing to win the game’s $50,000 third prize. An option purchased for an addition dollar doubled the amount.

Winning numbers are 2, 23, 41, 53, 63, Powerball 11 and Power Play 2. The odds of winning the third prize in Powerball are 1 in about 913,000. The winner has about six months to claim the money.

Powerball is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The jackpot is at $184 million for the next drawing, on Wednesday.

The tournament was created for individuals looking to have fun, compete, and have a great time. A total of 8 teams will be accepted, so sign your team up ASAP! Create a business team, grab some friends, and play some classic sand volleyball following the White Cloud Parade at 10:00 AM. The winner of the tournament will walk away with $150.00.

The first 8 teams registered will be accepted and there will be a waiting list if more than 8 teams register. GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – The national champion University of North Dakota men’s hockey team will pay nonconference games next season against seven schools, including arch-rival Minnesota. The two-game series with the Golden Gophers is Nov. 4-5 in Minneapolis. UND also will travel to Union and to the College Hockey Showcase in Madison Square Garden in New York, to play Boston College. UND will host nonconference games against Bemidji State, Canisius, Michigan State and RPI.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Donald Trump’s former campaign manager says he doesn’t know why he was fired. But Corey Lewandowski, who’s been with the campaign since its beginning and was dismissed Monday, said he remains a Trump supporter. Lewandowski says he has no regrets about his year managing Trump’s campaign. He says the infighting and turmoil that have marked the campaign stemmed in part from his demands for “perfection.”

BALTIMORE (AP) – A judge in Baltimore said he’ll decide by Thursday morning the fate of the officer facing the most serious charges in the death of Freddie Gray, the black man who died after breaking his neck inside a police transport wagon. Officer Caesar Goodson opted against a jury trial on charges including second-degree murder and manslaughter. Prosecutors say Goodson was criminally negligent for failing to buckle Gray into a seat belt or call a medic. They initially accused Goodson of giving Gray a “rough ride” by driving erratically with the intention of hurting him.

MACON, Ga. (AP) – The Justice Department says there’s not enough evidence to support federal criminal charges in the case of a teenager found dead inside a rolled-up gym mat last year at a Georgia high school. Federal officials Monday announced the decision after reviewing the death of 17-year-old Kendrick Johnson of Valdosta. Local and state authorities had ruled the teenager’s death Jan. 10, 2013, was a freak accident. They concluded Johnson got stuck upside down in the middle of a rolled up mat and was unable to breathe. Johnson’s parents insisted someone must have killed their son and have pushed to reopen the investigation.

FEASTERVILLE, Pa. (AP) – Police are interviewing several of the 12 girls who were found living with a suburban Philadelphia man. Lee Kaplan is charged with sexually assaulting a teenager who authorities say had been given to him by her parents when she was 14. Officials acting on a tip Thursday found the 51-year-old at his Bucks County home along with the girls, ranging in age from 6 months to 18 years. The 18-year-old told police she and Kaplan have two children, a 3-year-old and 6-month-old. Kaplan and the teenager’s parents are jailed on $1 million bail.

CHICAGO (AP) – Dennis Hastert’s attorney says the former U.S. House speaker will report to a federal prison in southeastern Minnesota this week to begin serving a 15-month sentence in his hush-money case. Hastert has a Wednesday afternoon deadline to report. A federal judge said at Hastert’s sentencing that the Rochester facility would be a good fit for the 74-year-old, partly because it specializes in health care and is near Mayo Clinic. Hastert is diabetic and suffered a stroke last year.
