Bismarck, N.D. (KCSi-T.V. News Jan 28, 013) – A North Dakota Army National Guard unit has received an alert notification for possible mobilization. The 814th Medical Company (Area Support), based out of Bismarck, with a detachment in Grand Forks, N.D., has been notified of their possible mobilization by their leadership.
If mobilized, approximately 65 Soldiers would serve in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) in early 2014 for up to one year. This would be the unit’s first mobilization in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) although the 814th served on overseas deployment training exercises in Ghana and the Democratic Republic of Congo. They also participated in the North Dakota Guard’s emergency flood response in 2011 in the Bismarck-Mandan areas. The unit’s missions include triage and medical evacuation, providing emergency trauma services as well as operating troop medical clinics.
“The 814th Medical Company offers extensive depth and professional competence through medical experience and exercises that will make them successful during their mission,” said Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, North Dakota adjutant general. “As always, their families, friends and employers will be fundamental to their success in a year-long deployment.”
Soldiers with the unit are from 20 communities across N.D., as well as two Soldiers from Minnesota and one is from Utah.
