Jamestown (CSi) The James River Humane Society has helped with giving dogs to organizations that have in turn aided in the Wounded Warriors Program and has assisted flood victims.
On Friday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Shelter Board Member, Jay Nitchke said, “Scout,” a Black Lab was determined to be a dog that met the criteria of being capable of assistance and was sent to a South Dakota K-9 Center, where he was trained, in search and rescue, and was recently deployed to assist in Texas flooding.
Meanwhile, “Braxton,” a three year old Pit Bull Terrier, was rescued from a North Carolina “kill shelter,” and after a year at the James River Humane Society, was trained in Minnesota, for placement in the Wounded Warriors program.
Also on our show Jay added that May is Spay and Neuter Your Pets Month, and encouraged pet owners to spay or neuter their dogs, or cats, to control the pet population.
She reminded viewers that a fundraiser is a memorial to pets or people, with a plaque that will be placed on a dog or cat kennel.
She said for a donation of $100 or more, for one year the name of the pet or person will be placed on the kennel. After the year, another donation of at least $100 will keep the plaque placed on the kennel.
