Bismarck  (PPR)  The delayed  wind farm project near Ashley, may soon be built.

Prairie Public Radio reports, the Merricourt Wind Power Project in McIntosh County was given siting approval in 2008, but was not built. The Public Service Commission had given the project siting approval in 2008. However, it was never built.

The developer has filed a new siting application – and the PSC has scheduled a hearing on it.

Commissioners Julie Fedorchak  and Randy Christmann say some of the proposed wind power projects couldn’t find anyone to buy the power, so they weren’t built.

Otter Tail Power Company has filed for an “advanced determination of prudence” for the Merricourt Wind Farm – to purchase the power.
