Scattered severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and
tonight. While only a few storms may develop, those that do
will likely pose a threat of very large, destructive hail to the
size of tennis balls and damaging winds up to 70 mph. There will
also be an isolated risk of tornadoes. The threat will be highest
across central into north central North Dakota, and between 3 PM
and Midnight CDT.
Then….
Another round of severe thunderstorms may develop across the
southwest and south central tonight. These storms will primarily
have strong wind gusts to 60 mph. The threat will be highest
between 9 pm CDT and 6 am CDT.

There is also a threat of severe thunderstorms Monday and Monday
night.
Jamestown (CSi ) No structural damage was reported after city crews inspected the viaduct over 4th Avenue Northeast during the 5-p.m. hour, Wednesday.
The northbound lane under the 4th Avenue Northeast viaduct in Jamestown was blocked to traffic early Wednesday evening after an incident involving a semi-trailer rig striking the structure and continuing without stopping.
The mishap led to the closure from 5:21-p.m. to 5:43 p.m. while a crew from the Street Department assessed any structural damage to the viaduct.
Lt. Robert Opp says the investigation is continuing.
Anyone with information on the vehicle involved is asked to call Jamestown Police at 701-252-2414.
Jamestown (CSi) Two individuals have been charged after they were taken into custody following a pursuit Wednesday.
Jamestown Police reports, that 58 year old Charles Barton, of Fargo, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class A felony, fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement officers and reckless endangerment, Class A misdemeanors.
34 year old Travis Fruetel, of Valley City, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class A felony.
The pursuit of a vehicle shortly after 6-p.m., Wednesday.
Police say the pursuit began at the intersection of 18th Street Southwest and Highway 281.
The vehicle being pursued went through the fence of the buffalo pasture, and then the suspects fled on foot, east of Buffalo City Diesel.
The pair were caught on foot, and taken into custody.
Jamestown (CSi) The Frontier Village Association Board of Directors has accepted the resignation of four board members.
The resignations come in the wake of the members be disgruntled with recent issues and the functioning of the board.
The board 5-0 the board to accept the resignations of Vice President, Jim Cofield, Dan Everson, Dale Bercier and Charley Tanata. Board member Jay Diemert was not present to vote.
Tanata, said he was upset with the direction of the board, he said some board members may return if things change.
The board voted 5-0 to elect Tina Willason and Kay Benson, both of Jamestown, as board members. Willason is employed by First Community Credit Union.

Valley City (CSi) The Valley City Public School Board Election is Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Voters will elect one at-large position and one rural position.
Ryan Mathias is on the ballot for the rural position up for election and Mike Callahan is on the ballot for the At-large position.
One polling place has been set up for all voters in the district inside the Administration Building located at 460 Central Avenue North. The polls will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Anyone wishing to vote by absentee ballot may obtain the necessary forms and ballot at the Business Office. Voters may vote absentee through Monday, June 12.
The summer office hours at the Business Office are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
HANKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a 62-year-old farmer was airlifted to a Fargo hospital after he was run over by a tractor in southeastern North Dakota.
Richland County sheriff’s authorities say the Mantador man called 911 Thursday morning and said he was run over by the tractor while baling hay north of Hankinson.
His condition has not been released.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) — A Minot woman will serve 30 days in jail for driving while high on meth with her 5-year-old daughter in the car.
The Minot Daily News reports 26-year-old Sydney Pearcy pleaded guilty Wednesday in state court to a misdemeanor charge. In addition to the jail time, she must pay $1,125 in court costs and spend 1 ½ years on probation.
Authorities say Pearcy was stopped by a police officer March 7, and her daughter was unrestrained in the car’s back seat. Pearcy was arrested and taken to jail, where a corrections officer found a meth pipe hidden in her bra.
Pearcy pleaded guilty in city court earlier to driving under suspension and not having her daughter properly restrained. She was given a suspended jail sentence and fined $375.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A Fargo man convicted of murder and arson in the deaths of two people in the city will be sentenced later this year.
Court documents show that sentencing for Ashley Hunter has been scheduled for Sept. 5. He could face life in prison.
A jury last Friday convicted Hunter in the hammer-beating death of 24-year-old Sam Traut and in the stabbing death of 45-year-old Clarence Flowers in 2015. Authorities say Hunter killed Flowers in a drug dispute, and that he killed Traut the next day due to drug-fueled paranoia.
Traut was a recent North Dakota State University engineering graduate from Sartell, Minnesota.
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The U.S. Drought Monitor shows that most of the Dakotas are experiencing drought conditions that are harming farmers and cattle producers.
The latest information released Thursday shows that about 87 percent of North Dakota is in drought, while just over half of South Dakota is experiencing drought conditions.
Roughly 700,000 people across both states are living in drought areas. The parched conditions have expanded and deteriorated compared to last week.
South Dakota State University Extension State Climatologist Laura Edwards says she’s heard of feed shortages in the state causing cattle sales that will likely continue. Edwards says also that there have been significant winter wheat losses in central South Dakota.
Edwards says she doesn’t anticipate conditions will improve in the near term.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The American Indian tribe that led opposition to the Dakota Access oil pipeline says it hopes to move away from reliance on fossil fuels.
Standing Rock Sioux Chairman Dave Archambault says the tribe wants to transition to renewable energy, such as wind and solar energy. He made the statement Thursday while accepting an award, but didn’t announce any specific projects.
The Wallace Global Fund, which supports social movements through investments and grants, awarded the tribes its inaugural Henry A. Wallace Award. It’s named for President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s vice president.
The award comes with a $250,000 prize, and the Wallace Global Fund also pledged to invest up to $1 million in renewable energy projects led by the tribe.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The PGA Tour Champions is bringing a tournament to South Dakota next year. The Sanford International will be the first PGA Tour-sanctioned tournament in South Dakota inn 17 years. Sanford Health, which has headquarters in the Dakotas, signed a five-year agreement as the title sponsor through 2022.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is asserting that the testimony given Congress by fired FBI Director James Comey represents “total and complete vindication” in the political furor over Russian meddling in the U.S. election last year. Trump, who had not not been seen posting on his Twitter account on Thursday when Comey appeared before a Senate panel, sent a tweet at daybreak saying: “Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindcaiton … and WOW, Comey is a leaker.”
LONDON (AP) — The Liberal Democrats’ leader says Prime Minister Theresa May “should be ashamed” for calling a snap election and joined calls for her to resign. Tim Farron said May had called Thursday’s election and gambled with Britain’s future “out of sheer arrogance and vanity,” adding: “If she has an ounce of self-respect she will resign.”

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Prosecutors at Bill Cosby’s sexual assault trial are expected to continue focusing on the comedian’s decade-old testimony in which he discussed obtaining quaaludes and giving them to women before sex. Cosby testified in 2005 and 2006 as part of a lawsuit brought against him by Andrea Constand, who testified earlier this week that she rejected Cosby’s advances and would have fought him off had the pills not left her paralyzed and semi-conscious. He has said the sexual encounter was consensual.
BIDI BIDI, Uganda (AP) — Hundreds of women who were victims or survivors of sexual violence in South Sudan’s civil war now meet in refugee camps in an attempt to heal. Many say their attackers were pro-government troops with the facial marks of the Dinka, the ethnic group of President Salva Kiir. The government has denied abuses.
