Minot (CSi) The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, on Friday about 9:18-p.m., a 2004 Yamaha R6 sport bike was stopped on US 2 at mile post 143 near Behms Truck Stop for expired registration.
When the trooper stepped out of the patrol car to inform the driver of the reason for the stop, the rider fled east bound on US 2.
The driver turned into a housing development on the west edge of Minot. A subject matching the description of the driver was located a few minutes later walking down the side walk of the neighborhood. The driver was arrested for fleeing. The rider was identified as 39 year old Arthur Hudson Jr of Merced, California.
A search of the driver revealed marijuana and marijuana wax or hashish. Troopers searched the area and located the motorcycle in a coulee northwest of KMOT. A Minot Police Canine Officer was called to conduct an article search for a backpack the driver was wearing at the time of the stop. The patrol dog located the backpack in the vicinity of the motorcycle.
A search of the backpack revealed approximately 6 ounces of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $7200. The backpack also contained a large sum of cash, and prescription pills.
The driver was booked into Ward County Jail for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and other drug and criminal charges.
