Scattered thunderstorms are expected to continue across western
and central North Dakota Thursday afternoon through mid evening.
While severe thunderstorms are not expected, a few will have gusty
winds and small hail.
Very warm temperatures are expected Monday through Wednesday with
temperatures close to 100 possible with very little rain. This
will increase the Fire Danger as well as the potential for heat
related illnesses.
Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police is warning residents of a convicted sex offender living in Jamestown.
Christopher James Midgett lives at 2605 Circle Drive, Jamestown, ND, the North Dakota State Hospital Transition Home.
He presently has no vehicle.
Midgett is a 34 year old white male, six feet two inches tall, weighing 291 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair.
Midgett has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota risk level committee of the North Dakota Attorney General’s Office.
Offense: Sexual assault of a child, when he was 12 or 13 years old involving a five year old girl, and an 8 year old boy. A recent charge involving a 10 year old boy in North Dakota was dismissed for lack of evidence.
Conviction Date: December 1996 in Victoria Juvenile Court, in Texas.
Disposition: 7 years.
Midgett is not wanted by police at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court.
This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault, or intimidate the offender.
Any attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten these offenders, their families, landlords, or employers will be turned over for prosecution.

Jamestown (CSi) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will increase Pipestem Dam releases on Friday (Jun 30, 2017)
Pipestem Dam Manager Bob Martin, says, the release will go from 125 cfs to 250 cfs.
He says the increase as part of the planned drawdown of the reservoir to freeze up levels before winter, at 1,443 feet.
Pipestem Reservoir is currently at 1,463 feet above sea level.
Also releases from Jamestown Dam were decreased from 13 cfs to zero on Wednesday this week, with Jamestown Reservoir a few inches below its normal level at this time.
The current inflow to the Jamestown Reservoir is down to about 25 cfs.
Martin adds, that water is evaporating from Jamestown Resrvoir, eliminating the need for releases at the present time.

GWINNER, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say the pilot of crop spraying plane has been killed in a crash in Sargent County.
Sheriff Travis Paeper says crash happened shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday about 8 miles west of Gwinner. Paeper says dense fog in the area is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
The sheriff says a farmer who lives nearby witnessed the crash. The pilot was working for an area crop spraying company. The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the cause.
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — A judge says a former North Dakota sheriff who is facing charges for dealing drugs and bribery should be allowed to travel out of state.
Southeast District Court Judge Daniel Narum made the ruling at a bond hearing for Johnny Zip Lawson on Wednesday.
Lawson is charged with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, bribery, false reports to law enforcement or other security officials, public servant refusing to perform duty and ingesting a controlled substance.
Wells County State’s Attorney Kathleen Murray opposed the motion, saying Lawson was a danger to others, namely witnesses and informants.
Narum ruled that Lawson can travel to South Dakota and Montana with the stipulation that any travel to Montana must be work-related.
NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) — A McClusky resident is dead after a vehicle crash in Mountrail County.
The Highway Patrol says 57-year-old Keri Edwards was driving a pickup truck that rear-ended a semitrailer on state Highway 23 about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Edwards died at the scene 4 miles east of New Town. The semi driver wasn’t hurt.

Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Blue Jays Boys Hockey Assistant Coach, Andy Fitzgerald has become the new Blue Jays Girls Hockey Team Coach.
He succeeds Shaulee Iverson, who resigned after two seasons as coach.
Fitzgerald a 2001 Jamestown College graduate. was head coach of the Jays baseball team from 2005-08. He played high school hockey in St. Paul, Minnesota, the playing college baseball for the Jamestown Jimmies. He’s also teaches Physical Education at Jamestown High School.
Jamestown (CSi) The James River Rodeo will have its two day event June 30 & July 1, 2017.
Tickets are $10 for ages 17 and up, $5 for ages 6-16 and free for 6 and under. The rodeo will be held at the Stutsman County Fairgrounds, at 6:30pm.
Events include: Tie Down, Barrel Racing, Team Roping the Roughstock, and more.
Committee member Richard Doerr says the Slack competitions will be held Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, held then because of a limited time in each competition.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The University of North Dakota and University of Montana have agreed to play a home-and-home series in football during the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
The teams will play in Grand Forks on Sept. 7, 2024, and in Missoula on Sept. 13, 2025.
The Fighting Hawks and Grizzlies have one more matchup as Big Sky foes scheduled for the upcoming season, which is UND’s final campaign as a league member. The two teams will meet in Missoula on Oct. 14.
UND will play a Big Sky schedule as an independent through the 2019 season before moving to the Missouri Valley Football Conference for the 2020 season. UND and Montana will meet in Grand Forks during that stretch, on Oct. 13, 2018.
The border rivalry started more than 100 years ago.

A second bill, “No Sanctuary for Criminals Act,” would strip federal funds from self-proclaimed “sanctuary” cities that shield residents from federal immigration authorities.

MOSUL, Iraq (AP) — Iraq’s Prime Minister is declaring an end to the Islamic State group’s self-proclaimed caliphate after Iraqi forces captured the compound of a landmark mosque in Mosul that was blown up last week. Haider al-Abadi says “we are seeing the end of the fake Daesh state … we will not relent, our brave forces will bring victory,” according to a statement posted to Twitter Thursday where he used the Arabic acronym for IS.
