Lawson is charged with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, bribery, false reports to law enforcement or other security officials, public servant refusing to perform duty and ingesting a controlled substance.
Wells County State’s Attorney Kathleen Murray opposed the motion, saying Lawson was a danger to others, namely witnesses and informants.

Berthold Police Chief Al Schmidt says the seizure of 122 pounds of high-grade marijuana is one of the largest busts he’s heard of in North Dakota. Officials say the marijuana has a street value of about $600,000.

Krebsbach had been missing since last Saturday in Lake Metigoshe when the pontoon he was operating was discovered with the motor running and no one on board about 9:30 p.m. in the area of the Twin Oaks on Lake Metigoshe.
Water in the search area ranged from about eight feet to 16 feet and is punctuated by heavy weed growth in places. Authorities say the weed cover made the search for Krebsbach more difficult than anticipated.
Searchers included Dive teams from Jamestown, and Devils Lake, along with North Dakota Game and Fish Department, Bottineau County Fire Department, and Ward County Dive and Rescue, are all participating in the search.
Krebsbach was sent to the state medical examiner in Bismarck for autopsy. However, the Bottineau County Sheriff’s Office has said no foul play is suspected. Krebsbach had dropped off passengers on his pontoon at a dock about one-half hour before he was reported missing.
Meanwhile, the search continued without any results Thursday for a jet skier who went missing on Lake Sakakawea in the area south of the Four Bears Bridge on June 11. Missing is Chad Kanine, 42, Parshall. Authorities believe he fell of his jet ski sometime between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on that date.

North Carolina-based TigerSwan faces trouble in North Dakota for operating without a license. It’s been lambasted by pipeline opponents for aggressive tactics during months of protests.
The company says in a statement to The Associated Press on Thursday that it’s “been the subject of a deliberate misinformation campaign.” It says social media “‘click bait’ makes wild claims about work done in the interests of public safety.” The company didn’t answer further questions, citing ongoing litigation.
North Dakota’s Private Investigative and Security Board has sued TigerSwan for having no license. TigerSwan said it looks forward to addressing issues with the board.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The U.S. Department of Agriculture is providing additional assistance for livestock producers dealing with the ongoing drought across North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana.
The USDA has expanded emergency grazing on land enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program, including those counties where drought conditions are moderate.
The agency says the authorization includes any county in which any part of its border lies within 150 miles of a county with severe drought.
The action also allows ranchers in the expanded set of counties to donate their hay to those in severe drought counties if the ranchers are CRP contract holders.
Farmers enrolled in CRP received a yearly payment for removing environmentally-sensitive land from production.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota’s Game and Fish Department is reminding people that fireworks are prohibited on state wildlife management areas.

Fireworks have been banned in many other areas this year due to drought conditions in the state.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A state agency is trying to collect millions of dollars in oil and gas royalty payments it says are owed to the state. The North Dakota Petroleum Council is promising litigation.
The dispute began after North Dakota’s Board of University and School Lands discovered during a recent audit that some oil companies allegedly took improper deductions for transportation, processing and other costs on royalties owed to the state.
The Petroleum Council disagrees with the department’s interpretation of the leases, which date to 1979.
The amount of money allegedly owed to the state is still being determined, but state Land Commissioner Lance Gaebe (GAY’-bee) says it’s in the millions.

NBA…
UNDATED (AP) — Two of the best players in the NBA’s Western Conference are about to become unrestricted free agents. One is expected to re-sign with the NBA champions, but another could be reunited with his college coach.
A person with direct knowledge of the decision tells The Associated Press that Kevin Durant has declined to opt in for the second year of his contract with Golden State. Durant has said he plans to re-sign with the team he led to a title earlier this month, his first as a pro. He would now have to reach a new deal after free agency begins Saturday.
Durant is expected to earn about $31.8 million a season under the new deal, a 20 percent raise over the $26.5 million he made last season.
Meanwhile, a person with knowledge of the situation says Utah Jazz small forward Gordon Hayward has declined the player-option final season on his contract and will test the free-agent market. The Jazz have made it clear that re-signing Hayward is their No. 1 priority, but the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat are showing serious interest in the small forward.
Hayward was Butler’s star player when Celtics coach Brad Stevens ran the Bulldogs program.
Durant averaged 25 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists last season, his first as a Warrior. Hayward was named to the All-Star game for the first time last season and averaged 21.9 points, 5.4 boards and 3.5 assists.
