DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Authorities have identified a man who was killed when he walked in front of a train during a parade in downtown Dickinson.
Sixty-four-year-old Michael Thorstad, of Dickinson, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Highway Patrol says he was struck about 11 a.m. Saturday by an eastbound BNSF train.
The incident remains under investigation.

Dickinson (CSi) On Saturday morning, July 1, 2017, the North Dakota Highway Patrol responded to a call of a pedestrian that had been struck by a train in the train yard near downtown Dickinson during the Roughrider Days Parade. The 64 year old male was walking southbound from Villard to an unknown location. The BNSF train was traveling eastbound en route to Mandan. The male pedestrian walked in front of the train and was struck by the train.
The male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. No one was injured in the train.
Other agencies assisting in this incident were the Dickinson Police Department, Stark County Sheriff’s Department, Dickinson Fire Department and the Dickinson Ambulance.
The name of the deceased will be released upon notification of next of kin.
This incident remains under investigation by the ND Highway Patrol.
