Feb 13, 2013 Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — Thirty years ago, February 13, 1983, the shooting and killing of U.S. Marshal Kenneth Muir and Deputy Marshal Bob Cheshire in Medina, ND, set off a nationwide manhunt for fugitive Gordon Kahl.  Watch trailer of search video recorded by CSi TV in 1983.

The Task Force of nearly a hundred U.S. Marshals and FBI agents were headquartered at the former Post Office building in downtown Jamestown, ND, as they searched for Gordon Kahl.

The tragic event spawned books, movies, TV movies, and countless news stories by local, state, and national news media.

In 1983, CSi TV photographer Kent Katterjohn and CSi reporter Christine Sheppard interviewed law enforcement officials from the FBI and U.S. Marshal Service, and joined the media group as the search went to Gackle & Medina with comments to the media by Dr. Clarence Martin.

Portions of video recorded by CSi was used by CBS and ABC  in national news stories. The Replay Channel is transfering videotape to digital, and editing the 1983 CSi raw video, some of which has never been aired,  into a look back at the local search activities,  from after the shooting to the point the Task Force left Jamestown.  The project, ND Search For Gordon Kahl,  will air on The Replay Channel, CSi TV 10 at a date to be announced.

Any individuals with personal photos from that time period are encouraged to contact Tom at CSi TV for inclusion in the historical project.
