Jamestown (CSi) Items are being collected to send to displaced Texas residents along with dogs and cats, from Hurricane Harvey.Hochhalter Chiropractic Clinic, at 118 2nd Street, Northwest, holds a food drive from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday September 2, 2017, and during regular business hours from Tuesday, September 5th,to Friday, September 8th.
Items that can be dropped off include, nonperishable food items. The Hochhalter staff coordinates the delivery with the Orphan Grain Train, also collecting other items to transport to Texas.
Items for dogs and cats displaced by Hurricane Harvey may be dropped off at the James River Humane Society, located off the I-94 Bloom Exit, and at Simply Home, including donations of cash along with pet carriers, dog or cat food, collars and leashes.
Those items will be sent to volunteers in Minnesota on Monday, who in turn take the goods to Texas.
Minnesota volunteers will return with dogs from Texas that have been surrendered or were in Texas shelters before the hurricane hit, and distributed to rescue groups in North Dakota and Minnesota, to find permanent homes for the animals.
