GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Grand Forks police are searching for a man who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint.

Authorities say the man walked into the Valley Dairy store shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, displayed a handgun and demanded money.

The clerk complied, and the robber fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. A police dog was brought to the scene but was unable to find the suspect.

The clerk wasn’t hurt.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — A judge has set bond for a pregnant woman accused of driving drunk and crashing a car into a bar and liquor store in Minot, injuring an employee.

Twenty-two-year-old Mariah Brien asked the Ward County judge for a lenient bond because she is seven months pregnant and has a 16-month-old daughter at home. The judge set a $1,500 cash or surety bond Wednesday.

The Minot Daily News says a probable cause affidavit says Brien drove her boyfriend’s car into The Landing Bar and Bottle Shop Tuesday night, shattering windows and glass doors. A clerk sustained minor injuries.

She’s charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident and providing false information to police. Brien pleaded guilty to a municipal drunken driving charge Wednesday and was given a suspended jail sentence of four days.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A county sheriff says he and state crime agents are determining whether alleged student misbehavior in the small North Dakota town of Colfax might be criminal.

School district Superintendent Tim Godfrey has said the alleged misbehavior happened in the boys’ locker room at the school for seventh through 12th-graders. He says it might have involved sexual harassment.

Richland County Sheriff Larry Leshovsky (luh-SHEHF’-skee) says authorities are sifting through rumors and third-hand information. He says nothing is being ruled out.

The sheriff declined comment on rumors that the alleged misbehavior might involve younger students being sexually violated in a darkened locker room by older students.

Some students have been removed from classes. Leshovsky says they’ll be interviewed, but he isn’t labeling them suspects.

The sheriff says the investigation likely will take another week to complete.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Bismarck Century High School teacher accused of inappropriate behavior will be required to undergo professional development training in classroom ethics and sexual harassment training.

The Bismarck Tribune reports social studies teacher Gregg Schmidt was placed on paid administrative leave last November pending an investigation, which was completed last week.

Schmidt was accused of making inappropriate comments to students, teaching content unfit for students and having “sexually charged” items in his classroom.

It’s unclear when or where Schmidt will return to teaching after his training.

State teachers union attorney Mike Geiermann says Schmidt is a “longtime, well-respected” teacher and wants to return to the profession. Geiermann said Schmidt declined comment on the investigation.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — City officials in Bismarck are considering adding a driverless bus to the Capital Area Transit fleet as part of a pilot program testing the use of autonomous vehicle technology on city streets.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that if approved by the City Commission, the bus would be rented from March through October 2019.

The city would apply to the state for federal grant money to help pay the estimated $80,000 cost. The city would be required to fund 20 percent.

City Engineer Gabe Schell says the technology is being used in other cities. The initial concept for Bismarck would be to run a route between downtown and the state Capitol grounds.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A $150 million natural gas processing plant is planned in western North Dakota, bringing to four the number of projects proposed to capture more of the record volumes of gas that is coming as a byproduct of oil production.

Republican Gov. Doug Burgum announced Thursday that Hess Midstream Partners and Targa Resources will build the plant near Watford City.

The Little Missouri Four gas plant will process 200 million cubic feet daily at an existing facility owned by Targa. The companies say the project will be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.

North Dakota Pipeline Authority Director Justin Kringstad says the addition of the new plant and others should help keep pace with expected oil production until 2020.

Update…

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Supreme Court will hear arguments next month on whether a Minot man convicted of killing his ex-wife can have contact with the two children he had with her.

Richie Wilder Jr. is serving life in prison on a murder conviction in the November 2015 death of 30-year-old Angila Wilder, who authorities say was stabbed 44 times in the neck, face and chest.

Wilder last fall appealed a judge’s order prohibiting him from having contact with the 6-year-old and 12-year-old children while they’re still minors. The Minot Daily News reports arguments are scheduled Feb. 27.

The children are living out of state with their maternal grandmother, who is their appointed guardian.

Wilder’s current wife, Cynthia Wilder, is awaiting sentencing for helping him plan the killing of his ex-wife.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota regulators have denied an oil company’s request to be exempt from the state’s rules for burning off and wasting natural gas.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that North Dakota’s Industrial Commission on Wednesday denied Marathon Oil’s request for several exemptions from the state’s flaring restrictions for several wells predominantly on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.

The company wanted the exemptions until larger pipelines are built in the area.

But the three-member panel headed by Republican Gov. Doug Burgum denied the request, saying it would be counter to the state’s policy that requires at least 85 percent of the gas to be captured.

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Some South Dakota legislators want to repeal a voter-approved constitutional “bill of rights” for crime victims and instead strengthen victims’ rights in state law.

South Dakota is the first state to seek to repeal “Marsy’s Law” of the six that enacted it.

It’s named after California college student Marsalee “Marsy” Nicholas, who was stalked and killed in 1983 by an ex-boyfriend.

South Dakota House Speaker Mark Mickelson said Thursday that lawmakers would seek to strengthen victims’ rights provisions already in state law before asking voters to repeal the Marsy’s Law constitutional amendment they passed in 2016.

Mickelson says the amendment has hampered law enforcement and spiked costs for counties.

Gail Gitcho, a spokeswoman for Marsy’s Law for All, says taking it out of the constitution would make the law “spineless.”

UNDATED (AP) — NBA All-Star game captains LeBron James and Stephen Curry have made their selections for the Feb. 18 game in Los Angeles.

James got Kevin Durant and reunited with Kyrie Irving in the league’s first All-Star draft. The Cavaliers forward also took the New Orleans duo of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins to complete his starting five.

Curry grabbed James Harden and Giannis Antetokounmpo (YAH’-nihs an-the-toh-KOOM’-poh), the league’s two top scorers. The Warriors guard filled the rest of his starting lineup with Joel Embiid (joh-EHL’ ehm-BEED’) and DeMar DeRozan.

The league initiated the draft format for the game, marking the first time the Eastern Conference won’t face the West.

While James was picking his starters, his Cleveland coach was altering his lineup.

Coach Tyronn Lue (TY’-rahn loo) is dropping Jae Crowder from the starting five and replacing him with Kevin Love, who is moving back to forward to make room for center Tristan Thompson. The moves come amid a 3-10 skid that has dropped the Central Division leaders to 27-19, just two games ahead of the Pacers.

Cleveland hosts Indiana on Friday.
