Jamestown (CSi) At the Jamestown City Council’s Finance and Legal Committee, Tuesday, James Valley Library System Director, Joe Rector said, work continues of the renovation of the Alfred Dickey Public Library in Downtown Jamestown.
He said the Alfred Dickey Public library’s foundation has been repaired, in the renovation process.
The concrete floor in the lower level has been re-poured, along with repairs to the roof, new LED lighting, new front doors, updated drainage tile, new signs, along with painting, and recarpeting.
He added the renovation costs have increased from $500,000 to $600,000, with the project to be completed by August this year.
Funding has come from a 15% USDA grant, along the local contributions, savings, funds from the Jamestown Community Fund, Friends of the Library, and on-going local fundraising.
While the library is closed for renovations, the Stutsman County Library has expanded hours, and the Bookmobile is parked adjacent to the Alfred Dickey Public Library on selected days.
The refurbishing is part of the Alfred Dickey Public Library’s Centennial Initiative, set for 2019.
