The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports ice on the road surface, plus blowing snow, led to a semi truck and trailer sliding off Interstate 94, 11 miles east of Jamestown about 6:25 p.m.
The report says 40 year old Ken Heinen, of Mora, Minnesota, operated the empty 2005 Peterbilt semi and its trailer westbound on I-94.
The rig with cruise control, engaged, crested a hill and drove onto a flat stretch of road, but lost control of the vehicle. It rotated counter-clockwise and came to rest in the north ditch.
Heinen, who was wearing his seatbelt, was not injured.
The truck received about y $10,000 in damages.
The Barnes County Sheriff’s Office and Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
Earlier about 5:36 p.m. Monday, a rollover accident occurred on Interstate 94, approximately 11 miles east of Jamestown.
The Highway Patrol reports, 19 year old James Morrell, of Baker, Florida, was driving west at 75 miles per hour on the icy road when he lost control of the 1996 Toyota 4Runner.
The vehicle spun clockwise into the north ditch, rolled, and came to rest on its side.
The report says Morrell was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
The Barnes County Ambulance and Barnes Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from both stores.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Fire officials in Fargo say a weekend apartment fire that left one man dead and one woman injured was caused by smoking materials.
Fire Marshal Norman Scott says the smoking materials ignited combustible materials nearby during the Saturday fire.
Crews arrived on scene at the fire at about 5:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call. One family had already escaped by jumping from a balcony. Thirty-year-old Jesse Daniel Madson died at the scene, while 42-year-old Angela Marie Wentz was transported to a Minnesota burn unit.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A psychiatrist has testified that a man who traveled by train from North Dakota to kill his three daughters in western Wisconsin was depressed but not insane when he stabbed the girls.
Psychiatrist Ralph Baker testified Monday in Aaron Schaffhausen’s insanity trial. Schaffhausen is accused of killing 11-year-old Amara, 8-year-old Sophie and 5-year-old Cecilia by stabbing them before tucking them into bed.
Baker described the slayings as a “spur of the moment type thing.” Baker told the jury he found Schaffhausen to be intelligent and coherent during their interview.
Schaffhausen has pleaded guilty but mentally ill in the slayings. Prosecutors say he killed the girls to take revenge on his ex-wife. After he and his wife divorced, Schaffhausen went to Minot, N.D., to work in construction.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – County officials in the Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., area want to keep track of people who might need help getting around in case of a spring flood.
The vulnerable population registry is meant for people who require additional assistance, especially with transportation, in the event of a disaster.
Officials say those people typically live independently or with the help of a caregiver.
The National Weather Service says there’s a 50 percent chance that the Fargo-Moorhead area could be in for one of the top five Red River floods of all time.
The phone numbers to register are 701-476-4016 in Cass County and 218-299-5220 in Clay County.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Legislature says electronic stun guns should not be listed as a dangerous weapon under state law.
North Dakota’s Senate endorsed a measure 46-1 Monday that exempts the zapping devices from the definition of a dangerous weapon. The House overwhelmingly endorsed the measure 92-0 last week.
Bismarck Republican Sen. Margaret Sitte (SIHT’-ee) says stun guns are becoming increasingly popular with women who live in western North Dakota’s booming oil patch.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Senate has endorsed a measure aimed at curbing the oil industry’s practice wasting natural gas at oil wells.
The Senate voted to 46-1 Monday. North Dakota’s House approved the bill in February.
Oil companies in North Dakota can burn off or flare natural gas for a year without paying taxes or royalties on it.
If signed into law, companies would have only six months to connect to the pipeline. Companies also could move the gas by other methods use it for such things as electrical generation. Companies also would get tax breaks for capturing the gas.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s oil tax fund is nearing $1 billion in assets.
The Legacy Fund gets 30 percent of the state’s oil tax collections. None of the money can be spent until 2017, and even then it takes a two-thirds vote of the Legislature to dip into it.
March deposits were about $87 million. That brings the fund’s total to $927 million.
Oil revenue began gushing into the fund only since September 2011. Analysts initially estimated it would have a $618 million balance when the state’s current two-year budget period ends on June 30th.
Revenue from the fund has been invested mostly in short-term, low-risk U.S bonds. The Legacy Fund’s seven-member advisory board is recommending that half of the fund’s assets be shifted to the stock market and other investments.

From VCSU Newsletter
The United States Tennis Association (USTA) named Valley City State University as one of the top 64 co-ed intramural and sport club tennis teams that have qualified to represent colleges and universities across the country in the 2013 USTA Tennis On Campus National Championship, which will be played in Surprise, Ariz., April 11-13, 2013.
Katie Paulson and Kurt Brown are the co-captains for the 13-member VCSU team, in existence since 2004 and competing at nationals for the first time.
The expense to travel to nationals is a big one, but the club was able to raise the money by selling ButterBraid pastries, cookies at basketball games and tennis club apparel.
The USTA Tennis On Campus program features more than 35,000 college students competing nationwide in intramural and intercollegiate coed club play. Since its inception in 2000, Tennis On Campus has grown significantly and today is played on more than 600 college campuses across the country.
This year, seven schools will make their debut at Nationals in a field that also includes defending champion University of California—Berkeley and five-time national champion Texas A&M (which won titles in 2002 and 2004-2007). All teams participating in the Tennis On Campus National Championship have advanced through USTA section championship play.
Developed by the USTA in partnership with NIRSA, World TeamTennis and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the Tennis On Campus program gives college students the opportunity to build leadership skills, network in a coed sports environment and compete on a college team without the rigors of playing in a varsity program. With year-round match play, and regional and national championship competition, students maintain active and healthy lifestyles through their college years.
Visit the Tennis On Campus website at www.tennisoncampus.com for complete results, stories and photos. The Tennis On Campus website also offers all college clubs fundraising resources, coaching tips and marketing materials.

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (AP) – Police in Connecticut say they arrested a homeless man who was shooting at cans with a pellet rifle not far from President Barack Obama’s motorcade route.
Bloomfield police say Joseph Stravinskas was found in a wooded area on Monday, shooting at cans with a rifle. Police say he initially refused to drop his rifle, but he eventually did and was arrested.
The arrest came after the president arrived at the University of Hartford to argue for new gun control legislation. Bloomfield police say the arrest is unrelated to Obama’s visit and occurred before the president’s motorcade left the university following his speech.
The 27-year-old Stravinskas is charged with breach of peace, threatening and interfering with police. He was arraigned in Hartford on Tuesday and is in custody, unable to post $15,000 in bond.
