Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — About 25 interested individuals attended the public meeting, on Wednesday April 10, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Airport as the topic was the growing needs at the airport.
Specially building t-hangars at the airport was discussed.
The Jamestown Regional Airport Authority presented a preliminary tentative plan for the t-hangars that would be located in the southwest parcel of airport land.
Another option is building the hangar in the southeast corner.
As Jamestown Regional Airport Mnager Matt Leitner said on a recent Wayne Byers Show, on CSi Cable 2, the plan includes constructing ten hangars, two smaller and eight larger.
The plan also calls for one set of 10 hangars to be constructed initially and then build any additional sets based demand.
He said options include the airport owning and then leasing the hangars or having the hangars privately owned.
The t-hangars presently at the airport are currently owned privately.
The project is eligible for federal funding, and would likely pay for most of the cost of the aprons leading to the hangars.
Pilots suggested that rent of $200 per month was too high and should not be more than $165 per month.
Jamestown Regional Airport Authority Chairman, Jim Boyd, says building the first set of hangars may start this year, pending interest for the hangars.

The mark was reached Thursday. Officials opened Sandbag Central on April 3, with the goal of filling a million sandbags in 10 days. The site was scheduled to close Friday afternoon.

Prosecutors say Kidder assisted another man in assaulting a woman with a garden hoe.
In a second incident, prosecutors say Kidder kicked a woman in the face.
Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for July 19.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The former executive director of a Bismarck nonprofit is accused of making more than $7,500 in unauthorized purchases with the organization’s checkbook and credit cards.
30-year-old David Mau was charged April 2 with forgery or counterfeiting and two counts of theft of property.
Mau was the executive director of the Arc of Bismarck, a nonprofit that provides education, advocacy and support for disabled people.
Bismarck Police Detective Dean Clarkson says in an affidavit that Mau was one of the signers on the organization’s checking account, which requires dual signatures. He’s accused of forging the second signature on checks and opening an account at Unistop in Arc’s name and charging money on Arc’s Visa card.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Senate has approved a $1.8 billion K-12 education budget that includes a bump in minimum salaries for starting teachers.
The measure would increase the minimum salary of a teacher from $22,500 to $27,500.
The North Dakota Education Association says the average starting salary for a teacher in the state is $32,000.
Democratic Sen. Joan Heckaman of New Rockford proposed an amendment to raise the minimum salary for a starting teacher to $32,000. But Senators defeated that measure 31-14.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Game and Fish Department is prohibiting open burning on the Oahe Wildlife Management Area along both sides of the Missouri River.

Burning restriction signs are posted at all entrances. The ban includes campfires.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – Williston’s police chief asked city commissioners for approval to hire one officer, but they did him two better.
The commission on Tuesday gave Police Chief Jim Lokken permission to hire three officers after Lokken said “it’d be nice” to have more help. The department has also added two dispatchers, a code compliance officer and a data entry secretary.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A two-day conference that emphasizes locally grown foods and products in North Dakota will include a panel discussion on getting specialty crops to market.
The Dakota Grown Farmers Market and Local Foods Conference runs today and Saturday at the Bismarck Civic Center.
The agenda includes presentations on vegetable variety trials, social media, food processing rules, customer relations and tourism.
State Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow growers, processors and marketers.
The event is funded through a specialty crop grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It is open to the public.
MEDORA, N.D. (AP) – The bighorn sheep population in North Dakota has increased to its second-highest level on record.
The state Game and Fish Department says its annual March sheep survey in the Badlands found 297 bighorns, up 5 percent from last year. The count doesn’t include about 30 bighorns in the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
Big Game Biologist Brett Wiedmann (WEED’-man) says nearly all of the lambs counted during a survey last summer survived the winter. But Wiedmann says the healthy lamb numbers probably won’t translate into more hunting licenses for several years because the number of rams remains much lower than it was five years ago.
Game and Fish has issued four bighorn licenses for this year, the same as last year.

SAN DIEGO (AP) – Padres slugger Carlos Quentin rushed the mound and wrestled Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Zack Greinke to the ground after getting hit by a pitch Thursday night, leading to a bench-clearing brawl between the teams that left Greinke with a broken left collarbone.
After he was plunked on the left shoulder in the sixth inning, Quentin started walking toward the mound. Greinke appeared to say something and Quentin then charged the 2009 AL Cy Young Award winner.
They dropped their shoulders and collided, and Quentin tackled the pitcher to the grass. Both ended up on the bottom of a huge scrum as players from both sides ran onto the field and jumped in.
When they finally were pulled apart, Quentin was led off the field by teammate Mark Kotsay. Greinke walked off toward the Dodgers’ dugout, his uniform top disheveled.
