Valley City  (CSi) Summer Sizzling, Grilling 101 will be presented by the NDSU Meat Lab Special, Spencer Wirt, on Monday July 8, starting at 5:30-p.m., at the Dacotah Pavilion located in Chautauqua Park.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to get everyone situated.

The presentation is in conjunction with Valley City Parks and Recreation.

NDSU Extension Agent in Barnes County Susan Milender points out that Wirt will demonstrate the magic of using rubs to get the best flavors out of certain cuts of beef and pork.  He will explain how to gauge doneness using a meat thermometer, and every participant will receive a free meat thermometer.

To wrap up his show, he will prepare grilled apples which is a recipe he uses at NDSU Bison tailgating  Other topics will include, get to know your propane grill, and pellet grill, creating smoke and indirect cooking with a propane grill.

He’ll talk about rubs, creating your own rubs, seasoning meat, degree of doneness, and grilling fruit.

There is a limit of 30 people, so you MUST PRE-REGISTER at the Valley City Parks & Recreation with a minimal fee of $10/person.
