Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — Spring snow melt in the James River Basin has led to water level increases at Pipestem and Jamestown Reservoirs.
Pipestem Dam Manager Bob Martin says, Pipestem Reservoir levels went up seven feet over the weekend, but was still not as large of an increase as anticipated.
Jamestown Reservoir’s level increased a foot from last Friday morning through Monday morning.
The Pipestem Dam release was lowered Monday 100 cfs, down from 145 cfs.
Officials still anticipate the combined releases from Jamestown and Pipestem Dams to be between 750- and 1,200 cfs.
Martin adds, lake levels will continue to increase, with some snow cover remaining near pipestem as ice is still covering most of both Jamestown and Pipestem Reservoirs.
The overland flood watch remains in effect at Pipestem Creek in Pingree, as the creek is over its banks but not threatening structures. The watch is in effect through Friday afternoon.
