Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News May 9, 20130) — The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office reports, a Jamestown man drove into the oncoming lanes on Interstate 94 between Exits 245 and 248, and appeared to be suffering from a medical condition.
At 2:43 p.m. on Wednesday, a truck with a farm tank in the bed was eastbound on I-94 about 15 miles east of Jamestown in the westbound lanes, east of Exit 245,
The vehicle went across the median to get access the eastbound lanes.
The driver got off on Exit 248 and drove north on 74th Avenue Southeast, then pulled over to the side of the road about a mile south of I-94.
No reported damage to the truck and no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Assisting the sheriff’s office, were the North Dakota Highway Patrol and Jamestown Area Ambulance Service.
The unidentified man for medical privacy issues was not cited.

Friday, May 24, 2013 will be the last day of school, dismissal is at 1:00 PM for Professional Development (this is a makeup day from a storm day in March). Buses will run at that time.)

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — BNSF Railway will close the 7th Ave X-ing area Thursday May 9, 2013 for maintenance work.
The far west X-ing in the BNSF Jamestown yard will be closed beginning Thursday May 9th for the weekend.
Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — Valley City will have the second public meeting to discuss, educate and answer questions about the AMI (automated metering infrastructure) system.
A goal of the meeting is to correct previous information.
The meeting is Thursday May 9, 2013 at 7-p.m., at City Hall.
The meeting was shown live on CSi Cable 68, followed by replays.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A Canadian man accused of leading a conspiracy to sell drugs in North Dakota and other states has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison.
Jerome Catacutan pleaded guilty earlier to conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver a controlled substance and a charge of money laundering.
Authorities say Catacutan admitted that he tried to buy 30 kilograms of cocaine from undercover agents. He allegedly engaged in ongoing negotiations with U.S. agents posing as large-scale cocaine traffickers.
Court documents show that the agents met with Catacutan at a Bloomington, Minn., bar in October 2009.
U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson on Wednesday sentenced Catacutan to 90 months in prison, with credit for 21 months served.
The conspiracy charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
ADAMS, N.D. (AP) – Walsh County is asking the state attorney general’s office to investigate allegations that the Adams School District has spent money illegally prior to pending reorganization. Walsh County State’s Attorney Barbara Whelan says some Adams School Board members are trying to deplete the cash reserves of the Adams district.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – An employee of a Fargo organization that handles fundraising for nonprofits is accused of stealing more than $140,000 of Giving Point’s money.
Forty-seven-year-old Sheila Horner is accused of writing checks to herself and her son from the Giving Point bank account, and of using company credit card accounts.
The Forum newspaper reports that Horner is charged with felony forgery and theft. Court documents do not list an attorney for her, and a telephone listing for her has been disconnected.
Giving Point Director Shannon Schweigert says it appears that none of the fundraising money for the organization’s clients was affected.
WASHINGTON (AP) – U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is demanding details of turmoil at a North Dakota military base after revelations that 17 officers were removed from their duty of standing 24-hour watch over nuclear missiles. Officers at Minot Air Force Base received poor reviews in a March inspection. Air Force Secretary Michael Donley added that the fact Minot commanders identified the underperformers shows that the Air Force has strengthened its monitoring of the nuclear force.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Enbridge Inc. has resumed shipping crude oil through a pipeline between western North Dakota and northern Minnesota after two shutdowns within a week due to leaks.
Spokeswoman Katie Haarsager (HAHR’-saw-gur) says about 10 gallons leaked between Knox and York in Benson County, and about 84 gallons leaked just southwest of Grand Forks.
Haarsager says the leaks were contained to the pipeline area and have been cleaned up. She says no environmental damage has been found.
The leaks were discovered through regular monitoring of the pipeline that runs between Minot and Clearbrook, Minn. The line has the capacity to ship 210,000 barrels of oil from western North Dakota per day to out-of-state refineries.
Haarsager says the brief shutdown of the line shouldn’t disrupt supplies enough to affect gasoline prices.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – The head of the University of North Dakota Alumni Association and Foundation is stepping down.
Tim O’Keefe says he will retire as vice president and CEO of the organization in March 2014.
O’Keefe has led the alumni group for 11 years. He has spearheaded a $300 million fundraising campaign and helped establish nearly 500 new endowments.
UND President Robert Kelley says the school “has a great friend in Tim O’Keefe.”
School officials say transition team will be named to find O’Keefe’s replacement.
NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. (AP) – The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded a total of $800,000 to two North Dakota communities as part of a nationwide program to assess, cleanup and redevelop contaminated properties.
The city of New Rockford will receive a $200,000 EPA brownfields site grant to clean up the New Rockford City Hospital site contaminated with inorganic contaminants.
The city of Minot is receiving $600,000 in assessment grants to focus on the downtown redevelopment area affected by flooding in 2011 and other flooded locations adjacent to the Souris River. A pair of $200,000 grants will allow for an assessment of hazardous substances and petroleum and another $200,000 grant will be used for area-wide planning.
The grants are part of $62.5 million awarded nationwide to 240 recipients.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – Officials on Thursday are expected to announce plans for construction of a $1.5 billion fertilizer plant near Grand Forks.
North Dakota Corn Growers Association director Tom Lilja says the plant will be built near Grand Forks and use natural gas from western North Dakota oil wells to produce fertilizer.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Dates have been set for North Dakota’s two-week deer gun hunting season in the fall.
The state Game and Fish Department says the season will start at noon on Nov. 8 and run through Nov. 24.
The state is issuing 59,500 licenses this year, down 9 percent from last year and the lowest number in three decades. The drop reflects a tough, lingering winter that has been hard on the animals. Wildlife Chief Randy Kreil (kryl) says deer populations are still below management objectives in most hunting units.
FARGO, N.D. (AP May 8, 2013) – North Dakota State University assistant men’s basketball coach Jason Kemp has resigned to accept a similar position at the University of Toledo.
Kemp had been a part of the Bison staff for eight years, starting as a graduate assistant in 2005 and serving six seasons as an assistant.
NDSU head coach Saul Phillips says Kemp’s contributions have been “immeasurable.” Kemp says he will treasure forever his time at NDSU.

UNDATED (AP) – The Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors won last night’s NBA playoff games to even their respective conference semifinal series at a game apiece. Ray Allen scored 21 points and the Heat led by as many as 46 in a 115-78 pounding of Chicago.
The Bulls also called for six technical fouls and finished the game without Joakim (JOH’-kihm) Noah and Taj Gibson, who were ejected late in the fourth quarter.
Klay Thompson scored 29 of his 34 points in the first half and finished with 14 rebounds as the Warriors beat the Spurs 100-91.
NBA-COACH OF THE YEAR…
DENVER (AP) – George Karl is the NBA’s Coach of the Year after leading the Denver Nuggets to a team-record 57 wins this season. Karl got 62 first-place votes from a panel of sports writers and broadcasters.
The Nuggets rallied down the stretch, winning 15 straight at one point and going 24-4 after the All-Star break. They also won a franchise-best 38 games at the Pepsi Center.
Miami’s Erik Spoelstra (SPOHL’-struh) finished second in the balloting with 24 first-place votes and 190 points.
NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE PLAYOFFS
UNDATED (AP) – The New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks were last night’s Stanley Cup playoffs winners. Third-period goals by Dan Girardi and Derek Stepan (STEP’-ahn) pushed the Rangers past Washington 4-3. Game 5 is Friday in Washington.
David Krejci’s third goal of the game lifted the Bruins over Toronto 4-3.
Slava Voynov had the overtime goal in the Kings’ 3-2 win at St. Louis, and the Ducks knocked off Detroit 3-2 on Nick Bonino’s overtime tally. Red Wings, who host Game 6 on Friday.

CHICAGO (AP) – Wild coach Mike Yeo says goalie Josh Harding will start Game 5 for Minnesota against the Chicago Blackhawks and Darcy Kuemper will back him up on Thursday.
Harding went through the morning skate and was ready to go after he left Game 4 on Tuesday following a collision with Chicago’s Jonathan Toews late in the first period. Harding’s legs got straddled around the left post when Toews landed on top of him in the crease. The Wild, who had already lost starter Niklas Backstrom to an injury warming up before Game 1, went with Kuemper to start the second period.
Blackhawks center Dave Bolland and goalie Ray Emery remain sidelined by lower body injuries.
The game will be shown on CSi 25 FS North with the pregame at 7:30 p.m.
The game will also be seen on CSi 63 NBC Sports Network.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – The Minnesota Vikings and the University of Minnesota have reached an agreement on the Vikings’ use of TCF Bank Stadium for two seasons. The Vikings would play at the outdoor stadium in 2014 and 2015 while the team’s new stadium is built on the site of the Metrodome. The deal requires approval from the university’s Board of Regents.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – Defensive back Ronde (RAHN’-day) Barber is ending his NFL career after 16 seasons spent entirely with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Barber was a three-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl selection who helped the Bucs win a Super Bowl. He also scored eight touchdowns, recorded 28 sacks and grabbed a team-record 47 interceptions.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay will have arthroscopic surgery to repair a bone spur in his right shoulder. The two-time Cy Young Award winner said he’ll also have his rotator cuff and labrum cleaned out in a procedure that could put him back on the mound later this season. The 35-year-old right-hander is 2-4 with an 8.65 ERA in seven starts this year.
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher J.A. Happ has been released from a Florida hospital, a day after he was hit on the head by a line drive. Happ was hospitalized after being struck on the left side of the head during Tuesday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

CONCORD, N.C. (AP) – A three-member NASCAR appeals panel has dramatically reduced most of the penalties levied against Joe Gibbs Racing for an illegal part found in Matt Kenseth’s race-winning engine at Kansas. The panel reduced the points deducted from Kenseth from 50 to 12, and reinstated his bonus points earned for the April 21 victory. The race will count toward the Chase and he moves from 11th in the Sprint Cup standings to fourth.

CLEVELAND (AP) – As some horrible details emerge about the ten year captivity of three women found alive in Cleveland, their alleged captor faces a public court appearance today. Ariel Castro is charged with four counts of kidnapping – covering the captives and the daughter born to one of them – and three counts of rape, against all three women.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Congress holds its first hearing on the Boston Marathon bombing today. Boston’s police commissioner is expected to say that while tighter security through various methods is a good idea, he doesn’t endorse anything that moves toward a “police state mentality.” The comment is in prepared from Commissioner Edward Davis.
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) – A surge of new, inexpensive generic versions of widely used drugs for chronic conditions is seen as partially responsible for a drop in spending on prescription medicines in the U.S. last year. The other reason is that cash-strapped consumers continued to cut back on or delay needed doctor visits, medicines and other treatments. The drop reported by the IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics was the first in more than five decades.
WASHINGTON (AP) – The battle for immigration reform continues today with the first Senate hearing on the legislation. The measure seeks to make dramatic changes and put some 11 million immigrants in the U.S. illegally on a path to citizenship. The Senate Judiciary Committee will begin considering some 300 amendments.
WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama drops in on Austin, Texas today to try to focus on creating jobs. Obama plans a series of quick trips around the country to resurrect ideas from his State of the Union address that quickly became overshadowed by the intense debates over gun control, immigration and automatic spending cuts.
