Marie was united in marriage to John Van Dyke on November 1, 1945 at the home of Pete and Hattie DeVries. Marie and John lived and farmed East of Ypsilanti, until moving to Jamestown in 2001.
She was a former member of North Marion Reformed Church where she taught Sunday school, bible school, and was active with RCW. Marie was also a member of United Presbyterian Church in Jamestown and was active in the Hope Circle.
Whenever company stopped in, they were always treated to “mom’s” freezer full of baked goods unless of course, the “kids” got to them first.
Marie is survived by two sons, Darwin (Jill) Van Dyke, Minot, ND, Duane (Carla) Van Dyke, Ypsilanti, ND; five daughters, Gladys (Jim) Ruckle, Bloomington, MN, Linda (Ken) Kylmanen, Detroit Lakes, MN, Beth (Ron) Tudahl, Houser Lake, ID, Karen (Dick) Hanson, LaMoure, ND, Lavon (Jeff) Veil, Jamestown, ND; 14 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Perry Roorda, Valley City, ND and Arnold (Joyce) Roorda, Jamestown, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, three sisters, Annetta Hansen, Rena Van Dyke, Julie Heim and two great grandchildren, Addison and Karissa Winter.
A family funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 6, 2021 at United Presbyterian Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Bob Boyar officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, February 5 at Eddy Funeral Home. Interment will be held in the spring at North Marion Reformed Cemetery.
Marie’s family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the staff at Edgewood, Ave Maria and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
