BISMARCK, N.D.  (NDDES)The temporary flight restriction (TRF) issued April 1 for the 10-mile radius around Medora, North Dakota, has been cancelled. Pilots of manned aircraft, as well as operators of unmanned aircraft systems, should continue to exercise caution while flying in this area. The TRF may be reinstated on little to no notice at any time should fire-fighting operations require clear airspace. Pilots and operators should always check Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) or the FAA TRF site at

BISMARCK, N.D.  (NDDES) – The North Dakota Department of Emergency Services Saturday requested a temporary flight restriction from the Federal Aviation Administration as local, state and federal agencies work to contain a wildfire in the vicinity of Medora, North Dakota.

Pilots of manned and operators of unmanned aircraft are being asked not to fly within a radius of 10 nautical miles of Medora as aircraft from the N.D. Civil Air Patrol, N.D. National Guard and U.S. Forest Service conduct wildfire response operations. This includes flying at altitudes from the surface to 5,000 feet above sea level.

 

The temporary flight restriction is in place until 7 p.m. CST/6 p.m. MST April 8 to keep the area clear for response agencies and to provide a safe environment since wildfire smoke has reduced visibility in the area. This temporary flight restriction may be changed, cancelled sooner should it no longer be needed, or extended if wildfire conditions persist.
