Carl Duane “Pinky” Carlson, 86, Jamestown, ND passed away Sunday April 11, 2021 at Ave Maria Village. Carl Carlson was born on May 23, 1934 to Carl and Josephine (Miller) Carlson on their family’s farm in Lyon Township, Kensal, ND. He attended his first years of school at the Lyon Township rural school. In 1942, Carl’s family moved to Kensal to ” The House on the Hill Farm”. He started school in 3rd grade in Kensal where he later graduated from high-school.
On May 1, 1957 Carl married Joan Arlene Fletcher at St. John’s Catholic Church in Kensal, ND. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary before she passed in 2010. They made their home first, on a farm outside of Courtenay and then later moved to Jamestown. Carl farmed for many years in the Kensal, Courtenay and Wimbledon areas. To supplement the Farming income, he worked as a CNA at NDSH, retiring after 20 years.
In Carl’s life he enjoyed local hunting and fishing. He went on several hunting trips out of state. He raced snowmobiles for several years. Carl loved to play cards in his down time and in his retirement. After his health failed, he especially enjoyed visiting and sharing his life stories.
Carl is survived by one daughter Brenda Corell of Jamestown, ND, son in-law John Corell of Jamestown, ND, grandsons John Jr. Corell of Jamestown, ND, Jayson (April) Corell and their two children Bryson and Miya of Jamestown, ND and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Donald Carlson and sister in-law Margaret (Haugen) Carlson.
Visitation will be held from 2 pm to 6:45 pm, Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Williams Funeral Home with Rosary to start at 6:45 pm and a Vigil to follow.
Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Carl’s family at 10:30 am, Friday, April 16, 2021 at Williams Funeral Home.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
Arrangements are in the care of Williams Funeral Home.
