Alida Sjostrom, 85, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Saturday morning, April 17, 2021, at Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Jamestown.
Alida Joan Lewis was born October 18, 1935, in LaMoure County, North Dakota, the daughter of Paul and Lucille (Albert) Lewis. She attended school in Nortonville, ND and graduated from Nortonville High School. Alida earned her Certificate of Floral Design from NDSU. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Sjostrom on January 21, 1956 at St. James Catholic Church. Alida started Country Gardens Floral in Edgeley, ND with her daughter, Joanne. Later she opened Country Gardens Floral and Greenhouse in Jamestown with her husband. After 20 years when Alida’s health was threatened by cancer, they sold the business and retired. She had a love of gardening and flowers. Alida’s many hobbies included fishing, painting, sketching, and working puzzles of many kinds.
Alida is survived by her husband, Lloyd Sjostrom, Jamestown; sons, Dennis (Christine) Gisi, Walla Walla, WA, Robert (Wilma) Sjostrom, Menoken, ND, and Steven (Rebecca) Sjostrom, Spring Valley, MN; daughters, Susan Kellar, Jamestown, and Joanne Lambert, Edgeley; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Gregory Lewis, Gilbert, AZ; brother, Merrill (Delores) Lewis, Mandan, ND; sister, Patricia (Donald) McAnallen, Lakeview, OR; brother, Doug (Arlene) Herzog, Grand Forks, ND; brother, Joseph (Charlene) Lewis, Inglewood, TX; brother-in-law, Lyle (Evelyn) Sjostrom, Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Marie Sjostrom; son-in-law, Steve Lambert; granddaughter, Tara Kellar; infant sister, Shirley; siblings, Elizabeth “Betty” Polries, Dorothy Lewis, Gladys Fercho, Kathleen (Patrick) Caulfield, Merle (Bernice) Sjostrom, Harley Sjostrom.
Mass of Christian Burial: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 2021 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, with Father Bernard Pfau officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 6:45p.m., Friday, April 23, 2021 at St. James Basilica.
Rosary: 6:45 p.m., Friday, April 23, 2021 at St. James Basilica, with a Vigil to follow at 7:00 p.m.
Burial: Nortonville Cemetery, Nortonville, ND.
Arrangements are in the care of Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.
