Gary Dean Hust, 78, died April 18, 2021 at Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND. Gary, the son of Walter and Martha (Roemmich) Hust was born on November 21, 1942 at the family home in Streeter, ND delivered by his maternal grandmother. Gary attended school in Tappen and graduated in 1960. In 1963 he married Charilyn (Cheri) Krapp and they welcomed three children, Cheryl, Kenneth and Aimee.
Gary began his lifelong career with the railroad in 1961 holding many positions including section foreman and machine operator. He began working for Northern Pacific then with Burlington Northern through his retirement in 1991. Following his retirement Gary spent his time enjoying family, traveling, attending sporting events and on various woodworking projects. The strong silent type, Gary enjoyed sitting back with his furry sidekick, DJ, reveling in the chaos of grandchildren and great grandchildren at family gatherings.
Gary leaves behind Cheri, his wife of 57 years. Three children, Cheryl (Daren) Bennett, Pingree, ND, Kenneth Hust, Pingree, ND and Aimee Hust, Jamestown, ND; three grandchildren, Michelle (Duston) Hagen, Lincoln, ND, Amanda (Joshua) Bruning, Canby, MN, Scott Bennett (Chandy Howard), Pingree, ND; five great grandchildren, Ryann and Lennox Hagen and Amelia, Vienna and Garen Bruning; siblings, Shirley Dunham, Kent, Washington, Linda Hust Marsh, Jamestown, ND and Patrick Hust, Fargo, ND.
Gary was preceded in death by his father Walter, mother Martha, sister Janet Mittleider, mother-in-law Bertha Krapp and father-in-law Raymond Krapp.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND with Deacon Ken Votava officiating. Family will be receiving friends after the service until 3:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
