Irene Wirrenga, 100, Nortonville, ND entered her eternal rest on May 16, 2021 at the Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND.
Irene, daughter of John and Emma (Lang) Hildenbrand was born February 19, 1921 in Wishek, ND.
She grew up on the family farm and attended school in rural Wishek area. Before her marriage to Willard, Irene worked in Montpelier, Adrian, Merricourt, and Monango as a nanny and housekeeper.
Irene and Willard Wirrenga were married on November 19, 1942 near Marion, ND. They bought a farm in Kennison Township and farmed there until 1981 when they retired and sold the farm to their son, Duane. Irene continued to reside on the farm until January of 2021 where due to health reasons, she moved to Ave Maria Village in Jamestown. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown.
Irene is survived by her five children; Donna (Harvey) Henne, Norma (William) Barnick, both of Fargo, ND, Dale (Nancy) Wirrenga, South Heart, ND, Duane Wirrenga, Adrian, ND, Marlene (Matthew) Mathern, Edgeley, ND; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one sister, Ida Eiseman, Bismarck, ND. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Willard), five brothers and six sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Tom Eckstein officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Wednesday, May 19 at Williams Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
