Arthur Paul Schaible passed-away on June 4, 2021. Arthur resided at the Eventide Care Center, Jamestown, ND. Born on March 7, 1944 to William and Elsie Schaible, Arthur grew-up as a young man on his Dad’s farm 3 miles west of Mott, ND, while also working for various local farmers. After high school, Arthur served in the U.S. Navy from January 3, 1963 through December 28, 1966. He received his basic training in San Diego, CA, and served tours-of-duty in Long Beach, CA, Pearl Harbor, HI, and on board the battleship USS Dennis J. Buckley (a DD808 destroyer), serving as a gunman in active combat duty off the coast of Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. After his military service, Arthur spent 50 years in the trucking industry, hauling goods of all sorts across all parts of the U.S. for various trucking companies. During his final years in the industry Arthur “rode-the-road” in his own semi-truck. Arthur had a special love for attending family events and truly enjoyed fishing excursions, whether for walleye in ND at Lake Sakakawea or the Jamestown Reservoir, or for stripper bass off the coast of Virginia Beach, VA.
Arthur is survived by his wife Betty Lou of Jamestown, ND; 12 brothers and sisters [Arlyce Johnson, Roger, Clarence, Laura, Raymond, Lynn (wife Carla), Dena Hinrich, and Judy Zentner (husband Dean) (all of Mott, ND), Urla Lehmann (Pembroke, KY), Glenn (Silver Spring, MD), Morris (wife Joan) (Salem, OR), and Richard (wife Linnea) (Old hickory, TN)]; his son Sean (wife Rhonda) and daughter Kelli Jo Haider (both of Tioga, ND); step-son’s Gregg and Rick Olsen (of Jamestown, ND and Union City, TN, respectively); step-daughter Brenda and husband Bryan Hietpas and granddaughter Chelsea (all of Virginia Beach, VA); grandson’s Christopher Olsen of Jamestown, ND, Chance and Ethan Fuson (Tioga, ND), and granddaughter’s Dakota Cheyenne Baldridge (Oakgrove, Missouri) and Becca Fuson and Kaitlyn Haider (Tioga, ND). Arthur is also survived by many, many nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, and great, great nephews and nieces (109 in total). Arthur was preceded in death by his parents: William and Elsie Schaible; five brothers and sisters [Henry, Jeanette, Connie (Bachmann), Mildred, and Walter]; and his son Chad-Wayne (of Odessa, TX). Arthur is also survived by his “Best Buddy” Roxy.
Arthur’s memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 2, 2021 at the Williams Funeral Home, 421 First Ave. South, Jamestown, ND. Honorary Pallbearers are Rick and Gregg Olsen, Bryan Hietpas, Christopher Olsen, and Lynn, Glenn, and Roger Schaible. Arthur’s internment ceremony will be held a 2:00 p.m., July 2, 2021 at the ND Veteran’s Cemetery, 1825 46th Str., Mandan, ND (south of Mandan on ND1806).
