Elizabeth (Betty) Pauline Wibstad, 70, of Montpelier, ND, passed away on June 20, 2021 after a battle with an extremely aggressive form of cancer.
The oldest of 12 children, Betty was born on May 27, 1951, to Gladys Lorraine (Klose) Zimney and Paul (Bud) T. Zimney in Jamestown, ND.
She married Alan Wibstad of Ypsilanti, ND and together they farmed, raised livestock, and were owners/operators of Wibstad Construction. They raised a blended family as well as fostered children on their farmstead in Montpelier, ND.
Betty was a true matriarch of the family. She helped raise and nurture 11 younger siblings and continued her tender, loving care with her own children, grandchildren, and all who were in need of a mother; as relative or not, Betty loved all as her own. She was absolutely happiest when surrounded by family and friends on the Montpelier farm. When she wasn’t doting on her grandchildren, she could be found fishing, gardening or in her craft shop making jewelry, building birdhouses, or restoring furniture with her favorite show on in the background. Betty was also passionate about raising Peacocks. She loved to sit on her porch swing and watch the peacocks roam the farm. She will be greatly missed, as well as her famous “Betty’s buns” that kept us all full and plump. We’ll be thinking of her as we walk these carbs off for years!
Betty was predeceased by her father Bud Zimney, two brothers Douglas Zimney and Daniel Zimney, a step-daughter Robin Dunwoody, and a son Tucker Wibstad.
She is survived by her husband, Alan Wibstad, Montpelier, mother, Gladys Lorraine Zimney, Jamestown, ND, one daughter, Amy (Brett) Ruff, one son Tyler (Janelle) Wibstad. Six Sisters Kathryn (Craig) Jorgenson, Toni (Jim) Tanata, Bobbie (Lloyd) Landscoot, Cynthia (Jack) Clemens, Ronnie (Wayne) Mickelson, and Jenny Zimney; three brothers, David (Lori), Daryl (Jean), Paul Jr. Three grandchildren, Jacob Ruff, Daxten Wibstad, and Atlas Wibstad.
