Donald Knutson, 97, Lakeville, Minnesota passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021. Donald was born October 18, 1923 in Churchs Ferry, ND, the son of Emil Knutson and Laura (Ebel) Knutson. He graduated from Churchs Ferry High School and attended the University of Tennessee. He was in the US Army from February 1943 until January 1946, serving in New Guinea and the Philippines. After the service he worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad as a telegrapher and train dispatcher.
Donald married Adelle Disher on June 20, 1951 in Churchs Ferry, ND. In 1956 he bought his own business, Westland Oil Company, in Jamestown. In 1969 he was territory supervisor for Owatonna Mfg. In 1976 he became supervisor of farm equipment for Melland’s, Inc. and Hird & Sons, Inc. After retiring in 1984 he worked part time for Eddy Funeral Home and Stutsman County Abstract Company. He moved to Lakeville, MN in 2017 to live with his daughter, Lori. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge, past President of El Zagal Shrine Club, life member and past president of the Jamestown Shrine Clowns, past director of local Court 67 of the Royal Order of Jesters, and life member of the Jamestown Elks.
He is survived by his two daughters; Pam (Kevin) Daniels, Loveland, CO and Lori (Bill) Norton, Lakeville, MN; four granddaughters; Anna (Mirza), Jan (Grant), Gina (Tony), Krista and seven great grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his wife Adelle, his parents, one sister Audrey Dressen, and one brother William Knutson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, July 9 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Susan Haukaas officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church.
