Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jul 19, 2013) – – Starting next week, (Wk of Jul 22, 2013) construction will begin on the Jamestown sanitary sewer project.

Starting Monday, July 22, construction will start in the area of 3rd Ave NW and 5th Street NW. During this time, 3rd Ave NW will be closed in the area of 5th Street NW. There may be a partial lane closure on 5th Street NW. However, 5th Street NW will remain open.

Also on Monday, construction will begin on the 600 to 900 blocks of 4th Avenue NW. Pavement removal and street closures are expected on Tuesday, July 23.

Motorists are asked to slow down in construction areas, use caution and watch for workers and equipment.

The west parking lot of the Jamestown Business center is closed. People are asked to use the south or east doors. The Jamestown Business Center is located at 300 2nd Ave NE.

 

At Historic Franklin School, home for CSi, the project will border the entire south side and east side. When the east side is closed to traffic, visitors and customers can enter through the south entrance, or enter the parking lot from 4th Avenue Southwest, to be able to access the elevator entrance.

Interstate Engineering wants citizens along the proposed route to sign-up at the project website for email alerts. Jamestown, ND Sewer Construction Project. The website has maps, the most current information, and will email changes of importance.

Also the west parking lot of the Jamestown Business Center is closed so crews can begin setting up equipment and preparing for excavation of the lift station.

The parking lot is closed for the next several months. People are asked to use the south or east doors of the Jamestown Business Center.

 WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) – A South Dakota man accused of attacking a female store clerk in the North Dakota city of Wahpeton and cutting her neck with a pair of scissors has pleaded not guilty to eight felony counts.
 
20-year-old Christopher Yellow Earrings, of Peever, S.D., is charged with felonious restraint, reckless endangerment and preventing arrest.
 
     He’s accused of entering a Family Dollar Store in Wahpeton on May 29, forcing employees and customers into a back room, and inflicting a wound on a clerk that required stitches. Authorities say a police officer also injured his thumb while trying to arrest Yellow Earrings.

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) – Secretary of State John Kerry says Israel and the Palestinians will meet soon in Washington to finalize an agreement on restarting peace negotiations. Kerry says “if everything goes as expected,” Israeli and Palestinians negotiators will hold initial talks “within the next week or so.” Kerry spoke to reporters at the end of a Mideast trip during which he held several days of talks with both sides.

 
     WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama says the nation needs to do some “soul-searching” following the Trayvon Martin case. In a surprise appearance at the White House, Obama declined to wade into the legal questions about the Florida case, saying, “Once the jury’s spoken, that’s how our system works.” But he said it would be worth looking at ways to bolster African-American boys and examine state and local laws to see if they encourage confrontations like the one that led to Martin’s death.
 
     SAN MATEO, Calif. (AP) – Authorities say a teenager survived this month’s Asiana Airlines crash in San Francisco only to be struck and killed by a fire vehicle rushing to fight a blaze that broke out on the plane. The San Mateo County coroner says the 16-year-old Chinese student died of multiple blunt injuries consistent with being run over by a motor vehicle. Police say she was on the ground and covered in fire-retardant foam when she was struck.
 
     IDYLLWILD, Calif. (AP) – Fire officials in Southern California have issued an evacuation warning for 700 homes on the western flank of a wildfire that’s growing in the mountains above Palm Springs. They’re recommending that Pine Cove be evacuated amid growing concern about unstable weather causing erratic winds. The fire in the San Jacinto Mountains has grown to 39 square miles and is 15 percent contained.
 
     HOUSTON (AP) – Police say they’ve rescued four malnourished homeless men who were being held captive in “deplorable conditions” at a local house in Houston. Police say the men were homeless and may have been held so that a captor could cash checks they were receiving. At least one of the men is a military veteran. One person is in custody.
