Doloras “June” Batsch, 89, of Jamestown, ND died on August 27, 2021 at Ave Maria Village Nursing Home.
Doloras June Wegenast was born on February 25, 1932 in LaMoure County, ND, the daughter of Fredrick and Lydia (Quaschnick) Wegenast Jr.
She grew up on the family farm, attended Ray Township School #3 and Edgeley High School. She earned her GED in Jamestown in 1987 fulfilling her lifelong dream.
June married the love of her life, Raymond Batsch on March 5, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ray Township, ND. They worked as farm laborers until 1952 when they moved to a later owned the Wegenast family farmstead south of Jud, ND. Due to the loss of their son, Randy, they sold the farm and moved east to Jamestown in 1973. June worked at several places in Jamestown including Jamestown Motel, The Eagles Club, Baker Boy Bakery until retiring in 1998. June enjoyed gardening and baking goodies. After losing her husband in 2013, she moved into Jamestown where she loved being in a 3rd floor apt. She loved sitting in her living room watching the traffic as she embroidered many dishtowels making sure to have a set made for each one of her grandchildren and even some of the great-grandchildren. June loved to visit with anyone that came to visit. After she had a few falls, she moved from Prairie Hills Apt Building to Eventide Assisted Living and then to her final home, Ave Maria Village.
June was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, The Eagles Auxiliary 2237, VFW Auxiliary, and had been the Dakota State Auxiliary Mrs. Eagle of 2002.
Survivors include her two daughters; Charlette Middlestead of Bismarck, Gale (James “Tom”) Scherbenske and a son, Bruce (Ruth) Batsch of Valley City, five grandchildren; Jeramie (Janelle) and Andrew (Allyson) Middlestead of Bismack, Matthew (Ashley) of Fargo, Jodie (Eric) Nelson of Valley City, and Jennie (Brandon) Darby of Mineola, TX and 11 great-grandchildren.
June was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Esther (Boom) Wegenast, her spouse, Ray, infant son, Randall, son, Randolph, son-in-law, Vernon Middlestead, daughter-in-law, LaRay, son-in-law, Dennis Waltz, brother, Ervin, sister-in-law, Audrey Wegenast, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Ave Maria Village or Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
Visitation: 10 AM – 7 PM, Friday, September 3, 2021 at Williams Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 AM, Saturday, September 4, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Erik Weber officiating.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens
Arrangements are in the care of Williams Funeral Home.
