Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jul 22, 2013) — Crazy Day will be held in downtown Jamestown on Friday, July 26, 2013.
Merchants from all over town are invited to display their products and offer some fantastic bargains for the shoppers. Anyone who displays downtown can be on the streets as early as 7 a.m. and stay as late as 4 p.m.
Featured again this year will be some excellent entertainment starting at 10 a.m., three inflatable air games (this year there will be no charge for bouncng), the Victory Lutheran Barrel Train, lots of delicious food and the ever popular Ping Pong Ball Drop at 1 p.m. from the roof of Jerry’s Furniture, for lots of prizes.

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — Booth space is filling up for the sixth annual Community Block Party to be held Aug. 29, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. along First Avenue in Jamestown. The event welcomes Jamestown College students to the community at the beginning of the school year.
The deadline to reserve booth space is Aug. 9, 2013. Businesses and organizations may sign up online at
http://www.jc.edu/communityBlockPartyRegistration. There is no charge for booth space.
Josh Vraa, of Coborn’s in Jamestown says, “It’s great to get into the community and show everyone what you offer. It’s a fun time, and you get to meet new people at one of the biggest events in Jamestown.”
Last year’s Block Party grew to more than 80 booths with more than 3,000 people attending. Entertainment includes inflatable games, worm mobile, food, prize drawings, dunk tank, contests, free giveaways and more.
Co-Chair Lisa Hicks of the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce says, “This event introduces the community to the wonderful students who attend Jamestown College year after year. It also helps promote relationships between the community and businesses.”
All first-year students will attend as part of orientation activities. Upper-class students, faculty and staff will also represent Jamestown College.
Jamestown College’s Director of New Student Orientation, Lori Listopad says, “We surveyed first-year students and found that a lot of them listed the Block Party as their favorite event of New Student Orientation. We see our upper-class students come back each and every year because they love it.”
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota Tourism is offering a $750,000 matching grant to tourism attractions that can draw more visitors to the state.
The 2014 Tourism Infrastructure Grant Program’s purpose is to provide funding for new tourism operations to attract visitors from outside North Dakota for at least one overnight state.
The money can be used to build a new visitor attraction, expand attractions or offer new support services for visitors.
Funds cannot be used for marketing or ongoing operating expenses.
The North Dakota Legislature appropriated $750,000 for the program during the 2013 session.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Milk production in North Dakota totaled 89 million pounds in the second quarter of 2013.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture reports that this is up 1 million pounds from the same quarter last year.
Milk production across the U.S. during April-June totaled 52 billion pounds. This is up 0.9 percent from the same quarter last year.
CHRISTINE, N.D. (AP) – A small rural church south of Fargo is closing after 133 years due to a dwindling congregation.
The South Pleasant Lutheran Church in Christine held a parish-wide farewell service Sunday. The church is slated to close in a few weeks.
The church was the site of about 600 baptisms, 400 confirmations, 110 marriages and 260 funerals.

LONDON (AP) – Palace officials say Prince William’s wife Kate has given birth to a baby boy.
Officials said Monday the baby was born at 4:24 p.m. and weighs 8 pounds 6 ounces.
The infant will become third in line for the British throne after Prince Charles and William.
Kate checked into a private wing at St. Mary’s Hospital in central London early Monday morning.
William spent the long hours of labor at her bedside. This is the couple’s first child.
BAGHDAD (AP) – Iraqi security forces are hunting for hundreds of inmates and militants who escaped when insurgents stormed two high-security prisons last night. Officials say dozens were killed in firefights after the assault, including at least 25 members of the Iraqi security forces. Meanwhile, attacks elsewhere in Iraq have claimed at least 18 more lives today.
CAIRO (AP) – There are reports of four deaths in Egypt, where violence has erupted in Egypt around protests by supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi. Pro-Morsi protesters marched near Cairo’s Tahrir Square and battled with Morsi opponents camped out in the square, trading stones and gunfire. Other clashes erupted in a city north of Cairo.
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against former Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo (ehr-NEST’-oh seh-DEE’-yoh) over a 1997 massacre in a Mexican village. The judge in Connecticut ruled that Zedillo is immune from the lawsuit because of his status as a former national leader. Ten unnamed plaintiffs who say they are survivors of the killings contend that Zedillo bore some responsibility for the massacre and tried to cover it up. Zedillo is now a professor at Yale University.
DALLAS (AP) – The president of Six Flags Entertainment Corp. says the company is using “both internal and external experts” to investigate the roller coaster accident that killed a woman at its Dallas-area amusement park. A 52-year-old Dallas woman fell to her death Friday from the Texas Giant roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington.
ORLANDO, Florida (AP) – Officials say George Zimmerman helped rescue four people from an overturned vehicle last week, just days after he was cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. A Florida sheriff’s spokeswoman says deputies responding to the wreck found Zimmerman and another man had already helped the couple and their two children out of the flipped sports utility vehicle. He spoke with a deputy at the scene and then left.
