Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The 6th Annual Jamestown Community Block Party Held August 29, 2013 drew around 4,000 people to downtown Jamestown.
On Friday’s, (Sept 6, 2013) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Felicia Sargeant said the total included University of Jamestown students.
She said an extra 50 t-shirts were ordered.
She pointed out that 113 booths were on hand, also a record number for the event, 26 more than last year.
She said as the event started, at 5-p.m., there was already a large gathering, before the university came down the hill to join in.
Already for next year, some booth sponsors, have signed up.

Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Felicia Sargeant says 115 booths will be at the Commnity Block Party this year, a record number. Josh Vraa, of Coborn’s in Jamestown says, “It’s great to get into the community and show everyone what you offer. It’s a fun time, and you get to meet new people at one of the biggest events in Jamestown.”
Returning this year were …the dunk tank, the Jamestown Police Department and the National Guard. Businesses signing up for booths include, Sugar Rush Boutique and Cherry Berry, several Jamestown hotels to recruit college student, workers or raise awareness of their services for when university students’ parents visti. Last year’s Block Party grew to more than 80 booths with more than 3,000 people attending. Entertainment includes inflatable games, worm mobile, food, prize drawings, contests, free giveaways and more.
Co-Chair Lisa Hicks of the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce says, “This event introduces the community to the wonderful students who attend the University of Jamestown year after year. It also helps promote relationships between the community and businesses.”
All first-year students will attend as part of orientation activities. Upper-class students, faculty and staff will also represent the University of Jamestown. Director of New Student Orientation, Lori Listopad says, “We surveyed first-year students and found that a lot of them listed the Block Party as their favorite event of New Student Orientation. We see our upper-class students come back each and every year because they love it.”
