Edna Kleingartner 97, Jamestown, ND died Sun Oct 3 at Ave Maria in Jamestown, ND.
Edna Nitschke was born December 23, 1923 on a farm one mile southwest of Jud, ND, the daughter of Christian and Victoria (Stehr) Nitschke. She received her elementary education in the local school and graduated from the Jud High School in 1942. She then attended Valley City College for two years and taught rural schools in the community for six years.
She and Irvin Kleingartner were married June 30, 1950 at Jud, ND. They made their home his grandparents, David and Barbara Schlenker’s homestead, 5 miles west of Jud, ND. Edna continued to teach for 2 years before working with Irvin on the farm, where they grain farmed and raised cattle. They retired in 2002 and moved into Jamestown where they have enjoyed city life. Following the death of Irvin in 2018 she continued to reside in Jamestown.
She was a member of the Jud Congregational Church where she was a pianist. Edna also taught Sunday School Class for 18 years, and is also an active member of the Jud Ladies Circle, serving in every office. She was a member for 50 years and has never missed a meeting.
Surviving are many Nitschke & Kleingartner nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, Rudy, Ted, Richard, 5 sisters, Hulda, Bertha, Otellia, Emma and Lorretta.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Monday, October 11, 2021 in the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND with Pastor Tammy Toepke-Floyd, officiating.
Interment will be made in the Jud Cemetery, Jud, North Dakota
Arrangements are by the Haut Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center in Jamestown, ND.
