The Frontier Village requested $25,000 for funding for the General Store Interior Upgrades.
Searle Swedlund said the General Store has been in place at the Village since 1994. Repairs and upgrades have been made, but during this time of vacancy, there is an opportunity to address some deferred maintenance, and bring the building up to capacity. Plans include more storage space, within the existing square footage. He said, the request for these funds will provide a portion of the cost for the overall improvements. By approving the request it will provide the applicant, (The City of Jamestown, and Jamestown Tourism) the opportunity to start to engage with vendors, sign contracts, and complete work within the scope of the project.
The board voted to fund the full amount of $25,000.
