June Wanda Johnson, daughter of Harry and Thilda C. (Warberg) Johnson was born Dec 25, 1928, at Maddock, ND. She was baptized at North Viking Lutheran Church, Maddock.
The family moved to Pettibone where they were active at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. June was confirmed by Rev. Thomas Gabrielson on Aug. 3, 1941. She attended Pettibone Public School, graduating in 1946. After attending college at Valley City, she taught at the Hornung School north of Pettibone.
Leonhard G. Morlock and June W. Johnson were married, June 26, 1947, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pettibone. They were engaged in farming at Lake Williams. Later, the couple bought the hardware store in Pettibone, opening Morlocks’ Gambles Store, Plumbing and Heating. During this time June was active at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, being Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She was also church pianist, playing for many funerals and weddings, often singing with Leonhard.
After selling the store June worked in food service at Pettibone Public School. She was also auditor of the city, during which time the streets of Pettibone were paved. June enjoyed Pettibone Commercial Club, Homemakers’ Club, and the Art Club. She and Leonhard played for many dances in the area.
Leonhard and June moved to Jamestown in 1987, where she was employed in food service for Jamestown Public Schools, they were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, singing in the choir, and June was a member of the Altar Guild. She enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life.
June is survived by daughter, LuJane (Leon) Opdahl, West Fargo, granddaughters Lauren (Tobi) Ricker and Lynae Opdahl; daughter, Brenda (Les) Trandem, Fargo, grandchildren John (Lydia) Trandem and Melodie (Don) Pochmara; son, David Morlock, Jamestown; and daughter, Kristen (Brett Crocker) Morlock, Ashland, WI; and great-grandchildren: Sam, Ben, and Alex Ricker, Elsie, James, and Marcella Trandem and Aron, Christian, David, and Elizabeth Pochmara.
June was preceded in death by her husband Leonhard, parents Harry and Tillie, sister Nyra Jean Hofmann, brother Gary Johnson, and an infant sister Harriet.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, November 12 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Pettibone, ND with Pastor Candyce Wick officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Pettibone, ND.
