BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says North Dakota’s annual crime report “is not a rosy one.”
 
     Stenehjem says the per capita crime rate increased 7.9 percent in 2012. The number of offenses reported by local law enforcement agencies jumped from 13,778 in 2011 to 14,866 last year.
 
     Stenehjem issued a new report Tuesday that provides statistics for crimes ranging from murder to car thefts. Data show that crime was up in nearly every category.
 
     The number of violent crimes rose 7.2 percent and make up nearly 10 percent of reported crimes. Statewide, the number of murders increased from 15 to 20.
 
     Stenehjem says crime has increased in the oil patch but so has the population. He says illegal drugs and organized crime are a big concern in oil-producing counties.
