Luann Rebecca Kiefel, 85, Jamestown, North Dakota died on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Ave Maria Nursing Home, Jamestown, North Dakota.
Luann was born September 17, 1936 to Roy W.L. and Thelma (Ophaug) Johnson of rural Nelson County, North Dakota. She attended McVille High School and was active in their music with a trio that did very well in competition. Luann also wrote in the newspaper the high school published.
In 1953 she married C. Duane Kiefel and they lived in McVille until 1961 when the family moved to Jamestown. Luann was a secretary to her husband for the Aid Association for Lutherans Life Insurance, now known as Thrivent. They enjoyed the many trips Duane had earned with AAL.
Luann was active in her church, served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, was a member of Concordia’s LWML and Mary Circle. She also served the District of ND Lutheran Women’s Missionary League as Corresponding Secretary and held other various offices. She was an artist and did many paintings for her family and sold some too. Luann liked to decorate her home, travel and enjoyed her family and friends.
She is survived by four children; Randall (Brenda) Kiefel, Fargo, ND, Lori (Richard) Lipetzky, Jamestown, ND, Nanci (David) Fennern and Mark (Corinna) Kiefel, both of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren Callie (David) Schimmelpfennig, Moorhead, MN, Carsen (Megan) Lipetzky, Dickinson, ND, Parker (Kassy) Lipetzky, Granville, ND, Lyndi (Blake) Krueger, Cleveland, ND, Jessica (Ryan) Miller, Jonathan (Beth) Fennern, all of Bismarck, ND, Brock (Brandy) Kiefel, Lincoln, ND, Christopher Kiefel, Minneapolis, MN; 15 great grandchildren Ian and Keaton Schimmelpfennig, Ayden, Tayven and Ryker Kiefel, Dayton Myers and Nelli Lipetzky, Ella, Noah and Everly Fennern, Kasen and Lochlyn Krueger, Farrah Gross, Lennex and Ophelia Lipetzky; one sister Lois Johnson, Wyoming.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, C. Duane, her parents, grandson Bryce Kiefel and sister, T. Renae Logan.
Family will be receiving friends 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Eddy Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 30 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Robert Hill officiating. Interment will be in Highland Home Cemetery.
