Russell “Dennis” Trautman, 82, Jamestown, North Dakota died on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.
Russel Dennis Trautman was born on March 12, 1939 in Jamestown, the son of Christ and Martha (Hochalter) Trautman. He was raised on the family farm, North of Cleveland, joining the army at 19, 1959 to 1962. Russell completed his GED and was a track mechanic in the service. He was stationed in Germany during his service.
Shortly after returning home, he met Gloris Luanne Arne. They married on November 24, 1962. To this union, they had four children; Richard, Karen, Janette, and Randy.
He owned Denny’s Wesland Oil Service Station before working at Big A Auto Parts for 27 years, then drove truck for Weist Trucking and Charley Davis. He enjoyed motorcycle trips, camping, fishing, fireworks during 4th of July gatherings with Randy’s family, and helping with Richard’s stock car races. Russell was known for always working on small engines repairs and being busy with a new project.
After his retirement in 2004, he loved visits from his grandchildren and spent a few winters in Marble Falls and Eddy, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Jerada, sister, Norma (Dale) Peterson, and sister-in-law, Carol Trautman.
Russell leaves behind his children and their families: Richard and his children; Tyrell (Brianna) and their children; Zecharia, Colton, Henry Simon and Emma Henne, Logan and his daughter, Astoria Dauenhauer, and Nolan, Karen Trautman and her daughter, Makayla and her children; Easton Lindell and Aurora Trautman, Janette (Leo Walker) and her children; Kristi (Mike) Hakanson and their children; Quinn, Wyatt, Bentley, Aubrey, and Madeline, and Doulgas Rheault, and Randy (Jennifer) and their children; Amber (Nick) Schoon and their daughter, Meadow, Aaron and his son, Jaxon, and Abigail, and he also leaves behind his brother, Curtis Trautman.
Special thank you to Lisa Barton and the other JRMC Hospice nurses that took care of Russell, his phone friends that continued to check in on him and kept his spirits high, the VA hospital staff, and his grandsons; Tyrell, Logan, and Nolan for always doing what they could to help their grandpa.
Memorial Service: 10 AM, Friday, January 7, 2022 at Eddy Funeral Home with Pastor Kristi Weber officiating.
Burial: Spring 2022 at the Trautman Cemetery, Cleveland, North Dakota.
Arrangements are in the care of Eddy Funeral Home.
