Aurelia “Peggy” Schmoker, 94, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of Dickey, ND, passed away Monday evening, January 3, 2022 at Ave Maria, Jamestown.
Aurelia M. Arthur was born July 17, 1927, the daughter of Cyril and Ann (Flach) Arthur, on the family farm east of Dickey, ND. She attended school in Marion, ND and graduated from Dickey High School. Peg attained her teaching certificate from Valley City State University and taught for three years. She was united in marriage to James Russell Schmoker on June 10, 1947 in Dickey. They made their home in Dickey until 1954, when they moved to a farm 1 ½ miles south of Dickey. Peg was the postmaster in Dickey for many years while being an active member of Assumption Catholic Church, Dickey, treasurer of the school board, and clerk of the township board. She also enjoyed time reading, gardening, tending to her flower beds, traveling, sewing, and ceramics. Peg was an exceptional cook and enjoyed hosting family and friends. She retired from postmaster and they moved to Jamestown. Jim passed away September 13, 2012.
Peg is survived by two sons, Craig Schmoker and Douglas Schmoker; three daughters, Candace (Harlan) Fuglesten, Cathy (Eugene) Breker, and Lisa (Kevin) Axtman; nine grandchildren, Shelby Breker, Dane Breker, Michael Breker, Ashley Larson, Kyle Fuglesten, Kari Reid, Jayme Fuglesten, Ben Axtman and Sami Axtman; and sixteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Carpenter and Beverly Larson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Valencia “Dolly” and Cynthia; and three brothers-in-law, Lawrence Carpenter, Jim Larson, and Bob Durbin.
Mass of Christian Burial – 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown. This service will be Livestreamed on Peg’s obituary at eddyfuneralhome.com
Rosary – 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 11 at St. James Basilica.
Visitation – 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday, January 10, 2022 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown and one hour before Mass at the church.
Burial – Dickey Cemetery, Dickey, ND, in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to the charity of your choice.
