Oriska, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports two Jamestown men were injured Thursday, (Aug 1, 2013) about 11:20-a.m., on I-94 near Oriska.
The report says A pickup towing a two axle trailer was traveling from Fargo to Jamestown, operated by 20 year old Logan Trautman of Jamestown.
He fell asleep, and the unit entered the median striking a culvert hump. He tried to steer out of the median and over corrected with the unit jack-knifing on top of the west bound roadway.
The vehicle and trailer became disabled, blocking the west bound traffic for about an hour, while the vehicles were removed.
A Bobcat skid steer on the trailer came off, and the trailer tipped onto its side.
Trautman and a passenger 28 year old Zachary Schultz of Jamestown were
transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and released.
Trautman was seat belted, Schultz was not.
Trautman was cited for Care Required.
The Barnes County Sheriff’s Office assisted the NDHP.
Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — A two vehicle accident was investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol that occurred at the junction of Highway 52 North and the by-pass about 1-p.m., Thursday (Aug 1, 2013). The accident involved a truck pulling a trailer and an SUV
A GMC Yukon Denali driven by 56 year old Randy Lynn of Pingree was southbound at 65-70 miles per hour on the left driving lane. A southbound truck was next to the vehicle on the right lane and slowing to turn west onto the bypass.
A pickup truck driven by 29 year old Raymond Snare of Moorhead, MN was eastbound on the bypass and stopped at the stop intersection of highway 52 a few miles north of Jamestown.
Snare noticed the southbound truck slowing to turn west, then began the process of turning north onto highway 52, and drove in front of the southbound SUV and was struck.
Both vehicles came to rest on the crossover and one in the southbound lane. The trailer being pulled by pickup came to rest on its side causing it to loose its load of rebar.
Traffic was routed around the crash for approximately 1.5 hours until the vehicles, trailer and load were removed from the roadway. Lynn and a passenger 28 year old Tyler Lynn were treated and released from Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
Neither Snare or a passnger, 15 year old Kyle Peterson of Wheatland, ND were injured. All were wearing seat belts.
$15,000 damage was reported to the SUV, $12,000 damage reported to the pickup.
Assisting at the scene were the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office and Jamestown Area Ambulance Service.
West Fargo N.D. (KCSi-T.V. News) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, a 61 year old Casselton man died as a result of a crash near West Fargo Thursday morning (Aug 1, 2013) about 5:40 -a.m.
Highway Patrol Sgt. David Wolf says a pickup and a car were eastbound to Fargo when the driver of the first vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle.
The Casselton man, identfied as Royce Rodacker driving the pickup that was rear ended by the car , was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The the driver of the car 20-year-old Nicholas Milbrandt from Kindred was transported to Essentia hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The report says neither driver was wearing a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Aug 1, 2013) — Jamestown Police report two people were injured Tuesday (Jul30, 2013) when a car drove into an air-conditioning unit, abour 3:24 p.m. in the parking lot next to Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, onFirst Avenue South.
Police say 82 year old Isabelle Copeland, of Crystal, North Dakota was attempting to park her car in a parking space, and applied the gas instead of the brakes.
The vehicle accelerated forward over the curb and struck an air conditioner unit and shrub, with the vehicle stopping when it touched the outside wall of the funeral chapel.
Copeland and her passenger, 59 year old Mary Copeland-Johnson, of Crystal, were wearing seat belts.
Copeland received a cut on her head and was treated at the scene by Jamestown Area Ambulance Service.
Copeland-Johnson also received treatment at the scene and was transported by Jamestown Ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
Damage was estimated at $1,800 to the car.
No damage estimate was available for the air-conditioning unit.
No citations were issued.
Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jul 17, 2013) – Jamestown’s Frontier Village hosts the World Fast Draw Association Shootout in Jamestown, August 9, 10, 11.
The Buffalo City Tourism Grant/Executive Advisory Board, Wednesday approved allocating $5,000 to the Frontier Village to expend to help bring the World Fast Draw Association Shootout to Jamestown.
On Thursday’s (Aug 1, 2013) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Frontier Village Manager, Colleen Conley said, Numerous events are planned including a local celebrity event, along with participants from around the country who are in competition with each other with accumulated point totals, from the events.
Single action revolvers are used, with wax bullets or blanks used, in the timed events.
Events will begin August 9th with a local celebrities challenge at 1-p.m..
Competition is on August 10th and 11th with WFDA members may participating
at Frontier Villages Amphitheater.
There is a participation fee, however, there will be free admission.

Buffalo City Tourism has approved supplimenting the $7,000 budget with $5,000 to be paid to the WFDA for $2,970 in prize money and for trophies and the sanction fee.
The event will be evaluated by the number of participants and Village visitors and a random survey, with the information to determine the success of the event, and possible annual WDFA matches in Jamestown in the future.
Co-sponsors of the event also includes the Quality Inn & Suites, Buffalo Inn, and Seekins’ Motel.

Frontier Village Manager, Colleen Conley, says the Pageant will be held Saturday August 10, 2013, at 2-p.m., at the Frontier Village between the church and the school.
Contests will be in the age categories of 3-5 year olds, 6-9 year olds, 10-13- year olds and 14 and older.
The entry fee is $15, the optional photo entry is $5.
The optional talent entry is $5.
Every contestant will receive a prize and certificate.

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Aug 1, 2013) — On Saturday and Sunday August 3,4 2013 Pioneer Days returns to the Frontier Village in Jamestown.
Village Manager, Colleen Conley says, Saturday August 3rd, from 10-11-a.m, there will be a Douser/Water Witcher on hand, and from 10-a.m., to 5-p.m., a Blacksmith Demonstration.
From 11-a.m., to 1-p.m., the Quilting Demonstration will be at the Frontier Village Church from 11-a.m., to 1-p.m.
From 2-p.m., to 5-p.m., there will be Morse Code Demonstrations.
At 3-p.m., it’s the Wild West Shootout.

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — Jamestown College’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program will welcome 36 students when classes begin Aug. 27, 2013 at the College’s new facility at 4190 26th Ave. S., Fargo. Orientation will take place Aug. 26.
President Robert Badal says, “This is an extraordinary moment in the 130-year history of Jamestown College. We look forward to welcoming a full class of Doctor of Physical Therapy students to our new location in Fargo.”
Students in the inaugural class for the three-year program are from Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Washington and Wyoming. Classes include Anatomy, Clinical Assessment, Theory of Exercise, Biomechanics and Kinesiology, and Clinical Education.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Authorities have recovered the body of a Fargo man they believe drowned while swimming illegally in a water-filled gravel pit across the border in Minnesota.
The 26-year-old man was with five others at the gravel pit near Felton in Clay County. The friends called authorities after he went under water Thursday night and didn’t surface.
Rescue crews recovered the body after about an hour and a half of searching. The man’s name was not immediately released.
Sheriff Bill Bergquist says “no trespassing” signs are posted at the gravel pit, which he says is on private land but is well-known to authorities as a party spot.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A judge says text messages a Fargo woman exchanged with her best friend moments before she was allegedly killed by her husband will be admissible during the trial.
Ronald Rogers Jr. is accused of shooting his wife, Elizabeth Rogers, and staging her death. He has pleaded not guilty to felony murder and willful disturbance of a dead body.
Krista Rankin testified at an earlier hearing that Elizabeth Rogers texted her and said her husband was breaking and throwing things. Rankin says she texted back and asked if Elizabeth was safe. There was no response.
Authorities accuse Ronald Rogers of shooting his wife on Feb. 19 and placing a pistol in her hand to make it look like suicide.
Trial is set for Sept. 23.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Authorities are searching for a man who apparently drowned in Lake Sakakawea in northwestern North Dakota.
The man had been in a boat with family members Tuesday night when he reportedly went overboard.
The incident happened one mile north of the Four Bears Bridge, which is a half mile from the Fort Berthold Reservation line.
A spokeswoman with the Three Affiliated Tribes says state and tribal game and fish personnel and emergency responders were searching for the man.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s top federal prosecutor says having an ATF director from a neighboring state will be a big plus because he’s already familiar with issues such as drug gangs in the oil patch and violent crime on Indian reservations. The Senate has confirmed Todd Jones, who was U.S. attorney in Minnesota.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – University of North Dakota summer graduates are getting some words of wisdom from the university’s out-of-this-world alumnus.
The keynote address during the Friday afternoon summer commencement ceremony will be by astronaut and UND alum Karen Nyberg. She’s currently orbiting the Earth in the International Space Station, and NASA is delivering her recorded message.
Nyberg is the first UND graduate to go into space, and the 50th woman to do so. She’s done it twice. The 1994 graduate from Vining, Minn., first traveled to the International Space Station aboard the space shuttle Discovery in 2008. She made her second journey on a Russian Soyuz capsule that blasted off from Kazakhstan in late May. She’s to return late this year.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A city in the heart of the North Dakota oil patch has a new brand.
The Williston Convention and Visitor’s Bureau unveiled the “Boomtown USA” theme on Thursday. CVB executive director Amy Krueger says the idea is meant to “boldly embrace” the city’s future.
The city has some of its earliest roots as a boomtown, when the fur trading business exploded in 1828. That’s also when Fort Union opened its doors.
The latest oil boom has allowed Williston to more than double in population in the past three years.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – The show’s over at the Lake Park Drive-In Theater in Williston.
The old movie theater was torn down on Wednesday. The theater has been closed for about a year.
Adams Development Superintendent Steve Griffith says his group purchased the now-vacant lot and will use it for a future project.
Playground equipment at the outdoor theater was donated to a local family.
Griffith says scrap from the demolition will be recycled and trees that were cut down will be donated to area families for firewood.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – University of North Dakota officials say the team has sold its most season tickets for football in a decade.
The school had orders for 4,455 season tickets by the middle of the day Thursday. It sold 4,359 of them a year ago.
The team held a special “30 minutes or less” promotion Wednesday, when players and coaches were required to deliver season tickets to buyers in less than half an hour, or the tickets were free. All of the deliveries beat the clock.
The school sold 57 tickets during the promotion.
The home schedule has Valparaiso on August 29th, South Dakota State on September 7th, Montana on September 14th, Montana State on September 28th, Eastern Washington on October 12th, Sacramento State on October 19th, and Northern Colorado on November 9th.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota State football is sold out for the second straight year.
School officials say single game tickets for six Bison home games were snatched up in less than two hours Thursday morning.
NDSU had previously sold 12,000-plus season tickets for the 2013 season. The Fargodome holds 18,700 fans.
Bison athletic director Gene Taylor says he expected demand to be at an all-time high this year for the two-time defending Football Championship Subdivision winners.
Taylor says additional reserved and standing room tickets may become available on the Friday of each game week.
The Bison have home games against Ferris State on September 7th, Delaware State on September 21st, Northern Iowa on October 5th, Missouri State on October 12th, Illinois State on November 9th and South Dakota on November 23rd.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – The Minnesota Twins have optioned left-hander Scott Diamond and center fielder Aaron Hicks to Triple-A Rochester. The Twins made the moves after both players struggled in a 7-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals. Diamond gave up seven runs on nine hits in five innings. Hicks went 0 for 4 to drop his batting average to .192.
NEW YORK (AP) – Monday appears to be the deadline for Alex Rodriguez and 13 others to accept suspensions for their ties to the Biogenesis of America anti-aging clinic. Major League Baseball is prepared to issue two simultaneous announcements no later than Monday, a person familiar with the process told The Associated Press on Thursday. One would list players who accept suspensions; the other would name those disciplined without deals, but who could challenge penalties before an arbitrator.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Closer Brad Lidge has retired as a member of the Phillies, five years after helping them win the World Series.
He spent four years with Philadelphia from 2008-11, saving 100 games in that span. He was 41 for 41 in the regular season and 7 for 7 in the postseason when the Phillies won the second World Series title in franchise history.
Lidge last pitched in the majors for Washington last June.
UNDATED (AP) – Texas Rangers designated hitter Lance Berkman says he’s going to keep on playing and will do everything to help his team make the playoffs. The 37-year-old Berkman is on the disabled list with left hip inflammation and having issues with his surgically repaired right knee. He had been pondering his playing future for several days, and midseason retirement had been a distinct possibility.

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) – Minnesota Vikings offensive tackle DeMarcus Love has been suspended for four games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing drugs. Love will remain eligible to practice this month and play in exhibition games. Love was inactive for all 16 games of his rookie season after being drafted in the sixth round.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Minnesota Vikings stadium planners are identifying and starting to address environmental issues before construction begins. The environmental impact statement notes soil contamination that will be studied further and mitigated as needed. The stadium will be built where the Metrodome now stands.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – The Philadelphia Eagles are setting up Riley Cooper with sensitivity training after the wide receiver was caught on video making a racial slur. Cooper apologized profusely Wednesday after a video of him using the N-word at a Kenny Chesney concert last month surfaced on the Internet. The Eagles immediately fined him.

AKRON, Ohio (AP) – Webb Simpson is the leader heading into the second round of the Bridgestone Invitational, with Tiger Woods two shots back. WASHINGTON (AP) – Employers have added an average of more than 200,000 jobs a month since January, and economists are predicting the government’s employment report for July will show the trend continuing. They say that would be a sign that businesses are growing more confident despite weak economic growth. The economy grew at a subpar 1.7 percent annual rate in April-June quarter. The jobs report is due out this morning.
MOSCOW (AP) – Edward Snowden’s Russian lawyer says the National Security Agency leaker has found a place to stay in Russia. Now, he says, Snowden has to figure out what to do with himself. Russia granted Snowden temporary asylum yesterday, allowing him to leave the Moscow airport where he had been holed up for almost six weeks. He’s allowed to remain in Russia for at least a year.
BEIRUT (AP) – Syrian activists are reporting more infighting among rebels. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the latest clashes occurred in northern Syria between Kurdish opposition fighters and rebels linked to al-Qaida. The group says 12 people were killed, all members of al-Qaida-linked groups. Earlier this week, a powerful Kurdish militia called on its supporters to fight the al-Qaida-affiliated groups to avenge a recent killing of a prominent political leader.
KANO, Nigeria (AP) – Nigeria’s military is warning that Islamist extremists are planning “massive attacks” in the country’s northeast. The death toll from a series of blasts earlier this week in the city of Kano has risen to at least 27. Nigeria’s military says militants planted multiple bombs around a Kano bar thronged with people Monday night. Attacks the following day targeted teachers and Muslim clerics.
