Jamestown (NWS) – The National Weather Service in Bismarck reports that the James River has a low flood risk this spring. Hydrologist Alllen Schlag, says, the James River Basin snow pack from this past winter was at or above a normal, adding that it melted slowly, with nominal runoff.
He says large rainstorms this spring would need to occur to have a risk of flooding along the James River, in North Dakota.
The Jamestown and Pipestem Reservoirs have sufficient water storage and are not expected to reach normal operating levels this spring.
Schlag adds that as of Friday the Weather Service in Bismarck does not have any large rainstorm amounts in the current forecast, while rain is expected next week.
