DQ owners Cheryl and Mark Wolf had just arrived and observed smoke and a flame coming from the vent.   The fire department was alerted as a precaution.    The fire department removed the vent screens and inspected the hood area.   They observed that a small flash-over event occurred in one corner causing the flame and smoke,  but it was not enough to activate the hood’s fire suppression system.

Cheryl Wolf said her “heart was beating a million miles an hour” when they called the fire department.

The Jamestown Fire Department was on scene for 20 minutes while the inspection was made.  After the all clear, the DQ staff and patrons were able to return to the building.  The DQ remained open Saturday evening serving ice cream only as the grill was shut down until the screens and hood had been recleaned from the flash-over event.
