Newtown (NDHP) The North Dakota Highway Patrol investigated a fatality crash on Monday April 18, 2022 at 7:57-a.m., at Highway 23 near mile marker 76.5 – approximately 26 miles east of Newtown, ND
Road Conditions at the time consisted of compacted snow and ice, with dense Fog and little to no visibility.
The report says, a 2014 Kenworth was operated by 54 year old Wesley Soper from Surrey, ND. He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
A 2013 Ford F150 was driven by a 79 year old, Nita Kok from Plaza, ND
She was wearing a seatbelt, but received fatal injuries.
The Kenworth hauling a tanker loaded with dyed diesel fuel was traveling westbound on Highway 23. The Ford turned east onto Highway 23 from a driveway. The driver of the Kenworth attempted to avoid the Ford. The Kenworth struck the Ford. Both the Ford and Kenworth came to rest in the south ditch. The driver of the Ford was pronounced deceased on scene.
The crash remains under investigation of the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
