Valley City  (CSi) Valley City’s Commission led another round of city informational meetings, on Tuesday April 27, 2022.   Commisioner Magnuson was not present.

Baldhill Dam Resource Manager Rich Schueneman said, on Wednesday,  the reservoir level was at 1265.62 feet.

The river level a 3-p.m. was 16.16 feet.  The reservorir water input was 3,300cfs, with the discharge at 4,100 cfs.

An inch and a half to 2.5 inches of rainfall is possible this Friday through Sunday, which is a variable figure.  The reservoir level is estimated to be  1269 to 1270  feet with those rainfall amount,  A possible dam release of 5,000 to 5,500, cfs would put the river level at 18 feet.

The crest of 18.5 feet is forecast for Tuesday May 3.

He said the levee installation is completed, certified at 20.5 feet.

City Administrator Gwen Crawford said the flood mitigation has been reviewed, with the levees being monitored 24/7.

Sewage lift stations at this point continue to work well.

The Barnes County  Highway Department reported  the county continues to monitor the two bridges south of town.  Residents have been notified through Everbridge, about potential plans if closing the bridges become necessary at a river level of 17.4 feet.

It was again pointed out not to get on all the dikes, which presents a dangerous situation.  There is a $500 fine for anyone in violation.

The VCSU Shuttle to campus runs from The Osmon Fieldhouse from 7-a.m. to 5-p.m. Monday through Friday. On the weekends and for evening classes & events, individuals will be able to park on campus.

  • The parking lots near the river (gravel and paved lots) have been closed.
  • The VCSU walk bridge has been closed.
  • Campus parking has been limited

Fire Danger Map for North Dakota

US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Major Gen. Diana Holland, commander of the Mississippi Valley Division and local Corps of Engineers leaders, including Col. Karl Jansen, commander of the St. Paul District,  visited  Valley City on Wednesday, April 27.

The leaders met with city and county officials to get an update on flood preparations.After the meet and greet the USACE leaders took a tour of the area to get a better understanding of the flood fighting effort.
