Single vehicle motorcycle injury crash
Where: Highway 20 mile-marker 10.5 – 10 miles north of Jamestown, ND

Vehicle No. 1: 2016 Chevrolet Silverado

Driver No. 1: James Charles Lees, 78-year-old male, Jamestown, ND, not injured.

Restraints: No airbags, Not belted

Charges: Under Investigation


Vehicle No. 2: Canyon Road Bike

Driver No. 1:
Timothy Wayne St. John, 20-year-old male, North Brook, IL, fatal.
Restraints: Helmet Worn

Charges: N/A

 The bicycle was south bound on State Highway 20 near mile marker 10.5. The Silverado, driven by James Lees, was also southbound and came upon the bicycle on the roadway. The Silverado failed to yield to the bicycle and struck the rear tire.


The bicycle and rider were pushed into the west ditch where they came to rest. Lees left the scene but came and located the cyclist. The cyclist was declared decreased at the scene after emergency personnel arrived. Lees was uninjured.

The name of the deceased cyclist will be released on 06/20/2022. The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
