Donald “Don” Vern Arbuckle, 67, of Litchville, ND passed away July 8th, 2022, from complications following heart surgery.
Don was born January 17, 1955, to Raymond and Jeannette (Richardson) Arbuckle in Cooperstown, ND. He grew up in Hannaford, ND with his siblings Jerome, Thomas & Patti. Throughout his school years he was part of the Boy Scouts and was the leader of the basketball team, or so he thought.
After graduating high school, Don drove truck with his dad and brothers at Ray Arbuckle & Sons. He later started up his own business Arbuckle Masonry “Building America Strong and Proud.”
Don married Connie Smith October 25, 1980. Together they had 4 of the most beautiful, talented, successful & funny daughters. Weekend camping was always a must with a backflip off the picnic table every time. He was an avid water skier. One of his proudest moments was getting all 4 daughters up skiing at the same time. Don was also so proud of all his grandkids. He was always trying to get to sporting events or birthday parties but sadly would either run out of gas or have a flat tire.
Don was a jack of all trades and enjoyed many hobbies to include stock car racing (Team Mopar), cattle, fishing and collecting his treasures. Don’s sense of humor was one his greatest gifts. Rarely could you have a serious conversation. Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Don is survived by 3 of his daughters Emily (Trino) Chavez, Kandace (Levi) Dwelle, and Ashley (Justin) Haseleu. His siblings, Jerry (Mary) Arbuckle, Tom (Barb) Arbuckle and Patti (Tim) Rondestvedt. And his grandchildren, Trino, Lilliana, Mateja, Blair, Laityn, Lacy, Andrea, and Lexi. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Andrea Arbuckle and his parents Raymond and Jeannette Arbuckle.
A celebration of life is planned for Thursday July 14, 2022, in the Dacotah Pavilion at Chautauqua Park, Valley City, ND. Visitation will start at 5 PM and service at 7 PM.
The Lerud Mathias Funeral Home in Valley City is assisting Don’s family with arrangements. An online guestbook is available at www.lerudmathias.com
